first of all, all of us got different views to a specific matter...And my question is, why cant people believe that God created the Universe?...Bigbang theory? ftw? planets collided and humans were made?.

Read Genesis chapter 1. God created the Univerese... its just the fact that some people are just ignorant and cant face the fact that God created us with limited minds.

I hate it that they teach that in school about bigbang and etc. kids are misinformed..:(

If ur an atheist, well, i cant blame you if you dont believe in God, or nothing at all,...its just a whole different story with religion..:)

You are right about the limits of the human mind. God created the universe. Big bang and everything. God had no beginning and will have no end. Faith is the correct answer to most questions. So much money is spent on this type of research, why? Will this research help save us from global warming? And another thing, while I believe there is other inteligent life in the universe, I think that they will detect and contact us long before we could ever detect them. God created this universe, it seems to me that we are awefully arrogant and self absorbed to think we are alone, but I digress

The so called big bang theory stands because the evidence is there. The Genesis theory falls because there is no evidence. Scripture, whether the Koran, the Rig Veda or the Bible, is not evidence. By the way, I have read Genesis Chapter 1, and a lot more besides.

And it is time you woke up that disbelief in Genesis does not an atheist make, whatever nonsense your US based ignoramus sect pastor might have told you. Where did he get his theological qualifications? Bob Jones? Fred's Bible School? Did they cost more than $1000 or did they come out of a cornflake packet?

Why is it that a creator deity could not have used a quantum fluctuation to create a Universe or evolution to develop living beings from bacteria through to people? Why not? Such a being can do whatever it pleases but it if decides to work through the physics and chemistry it has created, then it can do so.

Does your translation of a translation of a 2000 plus year old book of myths, legends and a bit of real history say something different? Get real, boy. Think about that before you get on these pages again with young Earth creationism that most real churches with real theology dismiss as drivel.

Besids the Bible, what other proof is there that God created the Universe? On the other hand, we have found many proofs that uphelds the Big Bang Theory. So do you believe something that you can't prove or something, that with a little studying, you can actually understand? Many people don't belive God created the Universe because there is no proof. Religion is blind faith. You accept whatever you want without a shred of proof. Imagine how this concept will work if you apply to medicine, to law, or just to about everything else.

I often wonder why people feel the need to believe in a supreme being. Do we really need this being to exist before we can become good people? Do you really need to go to Church to know what is good and what is evil? How about helping other people not because God want you to, not because if you don't you will go to hell, but simply because you actually enjoy helping other people. Shouldn't that be the state that we aim for?

"planets collided and humans were made?. "

I can only say that if that was the big bang theory, then I wouldn't believe it either ... but that is nowhere even *remotely* close.

You should try at least to *understand* something before you reject it ... especially if the scientists seem to accept it overwhelmingly ... they're not stupid people ... really.

You can start with the fact that the big bang was originally proposed by a Catholic priest, Georges Lemaitre (see source) ... so it is NOT a product of atheism.

Albert Einstein (who was also *NOT* an atheist) originally rejected the idea because it sounded *too much* like Creationism (proposing a finite age to the universe, and a specific moment of creation), but later was persuaded to support it because of the growing evidence ... derived in part from Einstein's own theories.

The big bang is NOT atheism ... it is NOT a rejection of God.

Somebody has been lying to you ... probably the same person, or people who told you that the big bang theory is "planets collided and humans were made."

You're certainly correct to say that kids are misinformed, as evidenced by your statement "planets collided and humans were made?" This is NOT what the Big Bang theory states at all. I would suggest that, before deciding whether or not you believe any scientific statement or theory, you educate yourself regarding what the theory ACTUALLY says, instead of what Ken Hamm or some other fundamentalist idiot SAYS that it says, because "lying for Jesus" is what such persons are about. And by the way, accepting the mountains of evidence for the Big Bang (such as the fact that we can still see the aftereffects today) IN NO WAY means that your god isn't behind it all. Just because the bible is not LITERALLY true, does not mean it contains no truth. It's parables, okay?

Firstly I am an atheist (this means you will most likely stop reading now) but I was raised as an Irish Catholic. What you will probably find disturbing is that the vast majority of religious believers also believe that the big bang is the closest thing we currently have to an explanation of how the universe was created.

God and the big bang theory are not mutually exclusive, only the direct interpretation method of some fringe religions mutually excludes the big bang. Most educated religious people understand that the good parts of the bible (and most are bad, look at how many people gave their daughters to rape and murder in the name of the all vengeful god character) are allegory for how we should live our lives.

So with this covered we now look at the "big bang theory" like all science a theory is a theory until it is unequivocally proven or disproven through experimentation. Sadly there is no direct way that we are yet aware of to prove big bang (and there likely wont be until we fully understand the formation of black holes, the closest relatives of the big bang). We observe the universe, the formation over time of heavier elements from various generations of stars, we look at the background radiation of the universe and the movement of galaxies. We look at the formation of other stars and planets around us and from all this information (and some more complicated mathematical methodologies) we arrive at a simple and elegant solution for a problem. That is what defines the physical world, a great many elegant processes that create the wonder around us. If something is simple then its closer to reality than something complex.

The idea of a father creator is a far more complex arrangement than that of the creation through physical processes. Obviously there had to be some input to create the big bang, I do not deny the possibility of some higher form of intelligence doing this but that entity had to be created at some point too.

If you believe in God believe in God but think about what you are saying, entrusting everything around us in this horrific book of brutality, murder, exclusion and despair. Sure there are many good things in the book but you cannot pick and choose. If you are to take the bible in its entirety (which your position demands) then you approve of the rape of women and murder of children for the appeasement of a jealous God. Oh and by the way, this God who loves you so much is willing to let you spend eternity suffering for the petty sins that you commit here. Is that not a little hypocritical if he loves you so dearly. Would you wish eternal damnation on your wife or children should they upset you? I certainly hope not.

God is not jealous, God really does not care if we read some book. God wants you to be a good person and ensure that you grandchildren’s children exist. Clutching blindly at this book you so highly regard would more likely anger our father/creator and if it continues it will almost guarantee that we have no descendants left.

Refusing to use the great intellect that God gave us would not be a fine way to honor Him would it? The creation story in Genesis is a fanciful tale fit for children. If you actually believe that simple story is how things came to be then I think you completely missed the point. The story is a metaphor, something that people who knew nothing of physics or science could wrap their feeble minds around.

Human beings would be exploring and colonizing other planets by now if it weren't for religion. Religion created people who cared more for the power they gained from the religion than the beliefs the religion espoused. These people, secure in their power, ridiculed and ostracised anyone who used logic and reason to attempt to understand the existence they lived in, when it disagreed with what the popular interpretation of scripture.

It was people like you dear question asker that laughed at Galileo and said "How can you believe Earth isn't the center of the universe? Read the bible!" It was the same type of people that executed Copernicus for his heliocentric theory, and labelled him a blasphemer and heretic.

One need not give up faith to be a scientist, however religion (not faith) has long been the enemy of science. Religion has produced countless individuals that resented the attempt to use logic and reason to explain the nature of their existence instead of believing tales of magic and miracles passed down through millenia.

The big bang theory happens to be consistent with decades of scientific observations of our universe. It adequately explains why certain things are the way they are, and discoveries since the formation of the theory have confirmed predictions it has made. Whether or not the big bang theory is correct is not a matter of belief, it's a matter of science. And while it hasn't been (and probably never will be) 100% proven, it works so far.

If you wish to honor God, then you should embrace the intellect He has bestowed upon you and use logic and reason to form your own conclusions, instead of simply believing and repeating what others have told you.

The Bible doesn't contain facts. It contains stories. Religion is not a fact, but a set of beliefs. Im not here to bash religion. The Big Bang Theory is just a theory. Unfortunately, no one was around when the universe was created (ignoring god right now) so to scientists, this theory is the best explanation we have right now with the tools and technology we have available. Why do they teach it in school? because this theory is a scientific approach to how the universe was created. If you want your kids to know about god only, then go to a christian school. to answer your question, some people will believe that god created the universe, while others will believe in the big bang theory. But either way, you shouldnt make fun of people for believing in what they want. Also, before you go bashing the Big Bang Theory, I would highly advise actually researching it so you can fully understand that it involves alot more than planets colliding and "humans being made".

So, your God created everything and just put two people in that everything. Eve must've been one busy woman to populate the whole planet, huh? I am sure Adam was having fun though. Then, this flood thing happens and kills everything and everyone on earth except for Noah, his family, and the land animals he brought along. So, then we're all now decended from Noah. Those women had to have been busy too with the population what it is today. The Bible is the number one selling book in the fiction category of all time. It's all symbolism, not literal fact.
I believe in a divine entity, I believe it created the universe and the laws of physics everything in the the universe operates by. I do not believe any mere mortal has yet invented the correct definition for that creator nor invented the correct religion to worship that creator.

I completely understand why you don't believe it.

If I was told "planets collided and humans were made"
I wouldn't believe it either.

But, that would be like someone trying to tell me a magic man in the sky with more power than anything, spoke "let there be light" and poof there was light.......... AND that Eve was created out of Adam's rib.

before you start accusing others of being wrong, you should research what they believe and not talk to other Christians about information on big bangs. They can fill you full of misinformation due to their own lack of knowledge on the science of creation

A group of people found a bunch of old stuff in the desert, and since it was stories about god and stuff it had to be true. This is the bible. There is no handwriting corroboration, there are no witnesses that any of the folk that hung around Jesus wrote this stuff. Simply because it's old and they found it in the vicinity of these goings on, it has to be true. I have to wonder who's being sold a pig in a poke here. Oh, yeah, this is the work of Peter, I recognize the hand writing. Do you suppose that if in 1000 years someone finds the work of Stephen King, they'll suppose that he is a disciple of some really spooky god? You are absolutely right about some kids being misinformed, you're just misinformed about which kids.
