There are a number of reasons I hate a song. They can range from inane lyrics to an annoying singing voice. They can also be certain gimmicks used in the song or I just don't like the melody. Another reason I can hate a song is overexposure. I might like it at first but I will come to hate it when is is overplayed.

Actually, it has less to do with the song than with the reactions to the song - most notably, the way that everyone will run a decent song into the ground by playing it over, and over, and over, until you want to slit open the throat of the next person who even hums the song in your presence with a torn-off section of a milk carton.

Good example? 'I Believe I can Fly', by R. Kelly. EVERYONE that did anything with kids back in the 1990's used that damn song 'because it was so uplifting and inspirational' - but after hearing it 150 times in a week, it becomes more nerve-shearing than the moaning of a crowd of zombies outside your bedroom window! Don't even get me started with other songs overplayed, like 'Eye of the Tiger', or 'Another One Bites The Dust', 'God Bless The U.S.A,' or 'Baby One More Time'... God save us all from constant overplaying and heavy rotation!

You want to know what makes me hate a song? Play it several hundred times over and over and over in a short time, and put it in EVERYTHING, from commercials, to movie soundtracks, to the damn Ice Capades, and make it so that (even if I actually liked it at one point) I can't ever get away from it, and I promise you that I'll hate that song, no matter what it is!

What makes me hate a song is a no clear motive other than making a quick bit of cash. There's no creativity at all and the art as a whole suffers. I hate all those rap and pop "artists" that wipe their @$$es with lyrics just to fill up the rest of a CD.

Chumps...

The way the singer's voice sounds. If I don't like the voice, I hate the song.

You know what makes me hate a song...When the radio stations repeat it over and over and over and over and over. I have an FM radio with XM built-in, in my car and I look around the FM stations and I find the same crappy songs that are on XM and its always the same 2 songs.

The beat has a lot to do with whether i like a song or not. Sometimes the lyrics can be really retarded, too.

If it reminds you of a bad time in your life, who wants to listen to that.
