CEO (or Chief Executive Officer) is the big guy (or gal) in charge of the whole company. (S)he is the boss to everyone in the company.
They make money the same way everyone else does: through their salary.
Jack Welch, Lee Iaccoca, Ross Perot
Depends, but most will have at least a four-year degree and perhaps another two or more for their Master's degree.

Steve Jobs is one of the key executives at Apple Computer. I believe he's the CEO. I'm sure he makes a huge salary and also owns many thousands of shares of company stock. When he and Wozniak founded the company, they started from nothing and grew the company. By designing great computers, developing great marketing, building good products, and providing good customer service, they grew the company into a huge company. Today he is involved in major decisions about future products and plans for the company.

CEO is the guy who carries out the orders of the BOSS to run the whole company.
He takes his orders from the BOSS or a committee called"the board" headed by a CHAIRMAN.
He is paid a salary and part of the profit as an incentive to run the company smoothly and make them profits. He does NOT necessarily make polices unless it is to do with the actual running of the company.
