Do you think there was anything positive coming from our Founding Fathers forming the United States?

If you do, then that should answer your question.

To start with, we aren't spreading democracy. We just say that because it sounds good. The US was founded as a republic and has morphed into a purveyor of global corporatism.
And the idea of spreading "democracy" has made us many enemies. You can't make a person or country change its core beliefs by beating them over the head. (like evangelists spreading the "word" to people who aren't interested.)
The only acceptable way to spread "democracy" would be by example, and right now the US is a poor example.

I think many things in their ideal forms sound great, probably even some of the types of governments we hate, but if ou are going to compare them, you need to get an unbiased opinion and that is like asking a Republican why Democrats are good. It is hard, you really need to go to a written definition of democracy or ask people who don't live under one to get an open minded answer. I think in the past the U.S.had dominated the world so strongly that maybe they have at times gotten into the Peter Principle where they are too big for their pants !!

Look at the alternatives. As someone once said - Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all of the others.
