It is often argued that private country clubs tend to have low-quality food operations because the members do not join or frequent their clubs for the food but rather for the golf and fellowship.(note: A private country club charges an intitiation fee and monthly dues. Members pay for food and drink they consume. the members own the club and pay annual assessments. When members resign or die, some clubs allow the members or their estate to resell the membership, subject to board approval of the new member. Other clubs resel the membership and retain the new initiation fee.)

I don't think any food outlet can get away with serving lousy food for long before the complaints flood in. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for, so depending on what you charge for the food, the quality should be proportionate to the price.
