you need to desire to clean, find something rewarding that you enjoy, and only do that thing after you have cleaned. basically, reward yourself. some things might be foods you like, ice cream, sex maybe? lol

Use cleaning as a replacement for working out at the gym. Just think of it as exercise. I hate the treadmill, walking around the neighborhood, jogging, etc. So I take one room at a time and clean it from top to bottom. Windows, drapes, move furniture, clean the TV, mirrors, in the kitchen I wash walls, get on my hands and knees and clean the floors, that way I know I am burning calories without working out in the regular way. Cleaning is terrific exercise.

Just get into the habit of cleaning & once you see how nice your home looks & how great smelling your home is, you'll always want to clean.

Steady yourself, grip something tight, have good courage -for here is my answer: I know of a good book...
Right, I hate those answers too. I want them right now, right away, and in short phrases, but, really, it is a really good book, and the author has the 'creds' to back it up.
The books name is "How to clean Up, Clear Out, and Dejunk Your Life Forever!" By Don Aslett
This book has done me well, but may not be for you (clutter may not be your issue). Fear not, for he writes many other books, pertaining to cleaning.
Mr. Aslett's passion and creativity takes cleaning to a whole 'nother level ( Think janitor who skips as he mops, then lands a book deal, I guess...enthusiasm galore)
His Specialty lies in cleaning and 'fun and easy'.
No, I do not work for Mr Aslett, or his publisher. ;) good luck and keep fighting!

Easy. Don't clean anything that you own for a month, and then you will 'want' to clean everything.

What works for me are the various shows on HGTV and other channels that show great design and organization. This makes me want to clean and organize. It is inspiring.

Do it one step at a time. I get overwhelmed by the overall big mess, and then i just leave it.
So break it up into steps, for example:
1. pick up all clothes and put in hamper.
2. make the bed
3. organize clutter on desk
I put on a playlist on the computer, and I give myself a deadline to finish up one task by the end of the song.

Work 15 minutes tomorrow morning, as hard as you can as fast as you can. Promise yourself that you will throw away everything that you touch that you do not need. After you work up a sweat, watch what happens. You will be amazed.
