It's good for the baby, even as a toddler on up, but there is also a such thing as breast pump. If the child would have been weened from a bottle by now, then they should be weened from the breast.

Some ladies breast feed their kids till they're 12 months or 18 months, but you only need to breast feed them for the first 6 months, that's what doctors recommend.

Well, this is a controversy! Give breast milk to your child as long as you feel he or she needs it, but take them from the breast by age one. You can pump and put it in a cup.
Just my opinion, of course.
I never breast fed because I was not comfortable with it and I have 4 very healthy and emotionally bonded kids! They were weaned from bottle to cup at around age 1 year.

I'm 23 and I want you to breast feed me!

Personally, I don't think children should breast feed, save that for the mom.

A few weeks or a few months,,until the baby is doing well and the mother is ready to bottle feed and dry up her breasts.

14 months. I only stopped because I got pregnant again and was so sick I had to take meds not compatible with nursing. I will nurse my current baby (due jan 10) until I get preggo again or age 2.

The long the better for both the mother and the child!

Yeah: that is pretty old; I would say between 18 & 24 months, but perhaps there's a special circumstance that you're not aware of with your co-worker...
