if i lived right on the equator,right smack dab on it would i have to do the daylight savings time change?!

Yes your position north or south of the equator or in this case directly on it has nothing to do with the timezone. Daylight savings is a way to adjust the timezones in order to experience correct amount of light at any point in the year and that means that you are just adjusting on a east to west basis in order to give that area more daylight.

Depends if the country you were living in had daylight savings time. Time is not dependent on latitude, but longitude.
