Ok first off a man only knows what he likes in bed. Why don't you teach him what you like and then guide him along. You can do this without telling him he's bad in bed. Spice it up a little bit. Masturbastion is always a sure bet to spice it up.

Don't. If you fake it, then he thinks his methods are working and therefore he continues to use them (=no orgasm ever).
If his skills are lacking...teach him. If you use the right attitude (don’t be critical!) he will likely be receptive to learning some of the things that you 'really like'.
