Stephanie, no it's not just at large random attacks ... It is Radical Jihadists from Iran and Syria who are aimlessly targeting Christian and Jewish Iraqis.

I imagine there will be slaughter if we abandon the Iraqis before they are stable. But I am also conscious of the need for our nation to achieve some unity, if we are to survive as a nation.

I am willing to listen to other options but not particularly from the Democrats after the way they have politicized this war.

First of all, what does Bill Clinton have to do with your question?

They can't be suffering all that bad, if they aren't willing to fight for their own freedom.

<> you obviously don't really know what is going on in Iraq.
It is much more complicated, than that and if they were only killing christian and jewish Iraqies, they would have finished that job long ago and would be at peace.

Most of the violence is sectarian. that does not mean they are killing people of other religions.
You need to quit buying all the right-wing gossip.

That might have been a good question had you asked it say.. 20 years ago. Who cared about them then? Or for all the years up until Mr. Bush decided it was suddenly the right time to go fight for "their freedom".

Right.

I didn't quite see you or any of the other neo-cons out rallying for peace and liberation of the middle east before now. I guess it's just that shifting justification you all seem to be so fond of.

I never said Clinton did either, why do you assume that everyone with a differing view point than you is just like all of your "enemies". Bill Clinton didn't give a damn, but Bush certainly doesn't either. You're just giving a prime example of how neo-cons can't seriously debate even their own questions without bringing up completely irrelevant bashing attempts at their opposition.

You can not force freedom and democracy on a people they have to want it more than they want life. If the Iraqi's truly want freedom and democracy and to be from tyrannical rule, they must be willing to step up to the plate and take it.

On that note your question seems like imply that large groups of terrorists are roving Iraq randomly attacking Iraqi citizens because they seek freedom and democracy. This is just not the case. It is largely sectarian violence that is to be expected when one sect oppressed another for so long. The "Iraqi people" should truly be three separate nations as their status as a nation was foisted on them by the British not very long ago.

As far as Bill Clinton regime change was the official policy in regards to Iraq as long as it could be accomplished without destabilizing the region and bringing chaos to the ME. Our own government helped to place Saddam in power, because he was for a time controllable by our government.

Our brothers and sisters in Iraq were apparently satisfied with Hussein, otherwise they would have overthrown him. It could have been done if there had been the will among them to do it. Ceaucescu of Romania was deposed and killed by his people, as was Mussolini in Italy, just to name a couple. When people have a bellyful of despotism and tyranny, they take matters into their own hands. We cannot force onto them the will to live within a democracy, they have to want it for themselves and go about attaining it, like we did 221 years ago.

No, but if they want it so bad they can just fight for it themselves. I'm all about world peace, but I don't think the majority of them want us there in the first place. I think we should bring our troops home and fix the problems we have here first, before we go out saving the world.

I don't have any family in Iraq. Neo-cons tell people suffering in America to pull themselves up by their boot straps. Suddenly, they care about the plight of others?

It is shameful to make a disingenuous plea to garner support for Bush's failed policies.
