I have asked that same question time and time again. They honestly do not get educated about ANY other country at all (unlike other countries do) I don't even think they realise what the 'world wide web' is... they don't even conceive that billions of people here and everywhere are NOT american.

Not all Americans, as not everyone in the world fit into a category. There are many who fit your description, to me this is the Reagan generation. Money is the real God and anti-government control and lower taxes is what they preach. They do not understand any other society, not even in there own country. The other groups are kept quiet by a propaganda campaign that equates caring for other people as hating America, Love it or leave it. America has a corporate mentality, you do not criticize

USA is great but i live here and seem to be too stupid to have gone anywhere else.
joking anyway why do so many wanna be us that's the biggest question how many sneak in to your country a year?
how many want a Green card or whatever you call it ?
we are made out to be the best so many might take that for granted.
to be honest i really don't care whats going on else where i believe in take care of your own and help the rest later.
so if that makes me be a rude American or stupid one at that all well i wont lose any sleep over it.

Americans think that way for the same reason the French think that way, or the Germans, Spanish, etc. Under normal circumstances, every one is wrapped up in his/her own little world of the moment, and noplace else matters. But once you dig a little deeper, you will find that Americans as a whole realize there is more to the rest of the world as most Americans evolved from what the natives must have seen as "Illegal Aliens" to them.

"Why Do Americans Think They Are The Only Country On This Planet?"
It's a national obsession, isn't it!
No, not really. It only seems that way. But yea, an awful lot of Americans are TOO darned self-obsessed regarding their country and totally ignore the state of other countries, other people in the world.
Sad really.
Ordinary people being spoon-fed by a voracious media, which is in turn being spoon-fed by a government who cares not at all for the ordinary folk.

Because America is a little like religion in the sense that it wants to spread and advertise itself, because it is and knows it is the world's superpower

Because the internet is native to America. If you are in America, you need not mention it. If you are in another country, you must first specify what crappy 3rd world country you live in.

I notice you don't mention where you live. So may we assume that you do not live in the United States?
We Americans know there are plenty of other countries in the world.
Our tax dollars are supporting many of them, and citizens of most of them are willing to undergo extreme hardship to immigrate to the USA. That probably describes your country
