It seems as if the earth is hard, callous, indifferent, careless, and selfish. I believe it represents nothing complex, simply the world today. Bombs have exploded, ruining the existence of man and land. The pollution is inevitable, intoxicants, making this concrete world a place filled with gray smog. Trials and tribulations overtake the joy and color.

The bench seems to be a bit of an oxy-moron, inviting yet cold. Welcoming but closing the door. Optimistic with no hope. Its like seeing the pool of water in the desert. A fake, an illusion, something you wish in your dreams.

The trees represent life. Hope. Hope for cures of disease. Hope for change in our lifestyle. Hope for peace.

I think this is very inspiring. It shows that good can blossom out of evil.

where did you find this picture? do you know who was the artist? was it painted in the 60's when everyone was getting ecology conscious?? Maybe it is symbolic of the spirit in which we, as people in general, neglect nature and are turning our world against us. Perhaps it is just a representative art painting of nature only in a artistic mood like a "pink" period where the only color the artist felt would meld with the pink was a concrete gray. The bench is a mystery. a bench usually indicates an inviting welcoming attraction to a park-goer. but if the world is gray, then maybe the bench is all that is left in the park with the pink atmosphere and the bench is lonely? Without a link to seeing this picture, or knowing the context of it's creation it's very difficult to be accurate for you. but here's my opinion.

We all live in our own little planets. You can see the road leading to a house and of course the bench. On the rim of the planet you can see the city which I guess our little world is an escape from. Our little worlds aren't so great as they disconnect us and are therefore grey. The world surrounding this though is beautiful and colorful and if we could escape our own grey little worlds we'd see this.

I see it as we are killing our earth. The gray dead concrete cirlce is humans creating more pollution evrey day. Getting bigger, in turn taking away nature...... Were going to keep going until its all gone :( But thats just my perception
