I think it was a planet because there were no stars and it was around 7:32PM on 9/13 near St. Louis. If it was a planet, which one was it? Did anybody else see it? It was about the size of what a star would appear to be.

This was most likely the planet Jupiter, since it's in the south at sunset and moves towrads the southwest where it sets.

Once again we have a bunch of people who know nothing making random guesses! We're talking about SUNSET. Both Mars and Venus are in the morning sky. Mars doesn't rise until 11:30 p.m, and Venus doesn't rise until 4 a.m.

Mars is up in the morning you silly people! It is like it is sitting on the top of Orion's head right now. Venus is in the morning too.

Why do you people try to answer things when you obviously don't have a clue what you are talking about???

Jupiter is in the S.SW. evening sky right now, but if the object was moving very fast, you might have seen a satelite.

you can easily tell if it is a planet or star by looking for one key factor. If it "twinkles" then it is a star, but if it doesnt then it is a planet. As for which planet it was, it was more than likely mars. I cannot be sure since i didnt see it but now you know how to tell if it is a planet or not :) its kind of cool isnt it? When you can see a planet.

Which direction were you looking? If it was to the south/southwest, it was Jupiter you saw.

There are two planets you can see, the morning star and the evening star, Venus and Mars. I think what you saw was Mars
