You see, I believe in myself, and I am not embarressed easily.. :) But serious, I always wanted to be an actress. I have the skill, because I know I can act. I was in John Robert Powers and they said I was a natural, modeling lol and acting. :) Yay. I am 13 years old and I really want to be an actress. I want to prove people wrong, that think I won't make it you know. But, you see, if I don't make it, I have many fall-backs. Being an nterior designer, or a Crimanal Psychiatrist. I would like to be a role-model for kids. But you see, I am not that pretty, so to speak. :) Check me out at myspace.com/saphartha. :) Am I really that ugly?? Please I would really need your help in advice and what-not. Or email me at neopetlover111222@yahoo.com..

Thanks so much,
Samantha

No offense, but Powers people tell everyone that they're a natural. They train their people that way so that you'll pay up. Don't rely on anything they told you. That doesn't mean you don't actually have any talent or potential, but seriously you can't count on what they told you because it was to their benefit for you to believe what they were telling you.

Another thing, you should not be giving out this much info about yourself here or anywhere. You are under age and you've just handed out a link to your website and email, definitely not smart. You should delete this question.

Regardless of how you look (I did not go to your site), it takes all types to make a movie. The homeless woman is not going to be a supermodel, she's going to be toothless and hungry looking. The girl in the mailroom is probably going to look average or even homely. There's a place for mainy different types, you just have to know what types you can play and be ok with that.

Make sure your parents are cool with what you want to do. Get into acting classes, dance and voice lessons. Start in school plays, local theatres, etc. and build a resume. Then look to student and indie films. Once you have a decent resume you can try for an agent. Don't forget to network with other actors while you're taking classes and doing theatre, etc. When you meet someone with a legit agent see if they'll give you a referral.

To find a legit agent, look on Sag.org or RossReports.com. Sag is free, but Ross Reports has more agents listed. Legit agents take 10% for sag jobs and they do NOT charge you anything up front. Nothing until you get a job.

I think your fall back careers sound cool too, you'll just have to chose eventually. Whatever you do, stay in school.

Dont get too excited about Powers, they are generally considered a rip off. Having a fall back is a bad idea, because being an actor is so hard that you will surely fall back on if you have something to do that. You my space url did not work on my computer. The first thing you need to do is secure your parents' backing for you to be an actor. Then you need a mentor, Then you need to be in lots of plays, Then you need more and better acting classes, Then you need a resume and a head shot, Then you need know how about auditioning and interviewing and the business of being an actor, Then you need an agent. (this process takes several years in most cases. So, if you want more info, get your folks' to click on my name, read my profile and agree to let me help you and them, for there are things they will have to do since you are a minor and cannot sign contracts or act without their consent. My help is free.

Oh, how I wish you girls would not do this to yourselves. Don't ask people to evaluate your looks. It will only make you more insecure.

I'm not going to your myspace page either, because I know without even looking that you're not as ugly as you think you are. Every adolescent girl on the planet thinks they're ugly. Even the really popular ones think that, deep down. This is what is known as a transition phase. You'll grow out of the anxiety once you get used to having an adult body.

Some grow out of it faster than others. Distract yourself with hobbies and school activities (like plays).

I know how you feel because I' persuing acting now. Do you believe all of those actresses look like that. They fix up A LOT of people. Celebs aren't naturally pretty anyway. Just focus on your talent...that will get you there :)

I think that you should go for it! You should try acting if you enjoy it and see if it's what you're meant to do. :D If not, try one of the other choices. ^^

Wow, I just answered a very similar question that addresses most of this question. Please see my answer to Hair Dye's question about 'talent scouts' going to talent shows. It is listed under performing arts category.
