You could wear riding pants. See ref below but that is overkill. The main thing to remember is wear pants (jeans) that stretch. If you do some research you will find that 99% of the cowboys (real cowboys) wear stretch jeans. Usually Levis, Lee and Wrangler. They also last longer. A pony tail always makes the chicks look cute and younger :- Another secret: Guys in the saddle a long time also wear pantyhose to stop the friction but if hot that might be a problem.

no most of us don't . Regualr briefs work fine. Wouldnt recomend boxers.Hey I bet thats why so many teen boys have no inerest in riding, Thier pants fall down around the saddle and their boxers half way up their backs may look cool but don't feel so good.
Straps are not designed fo the constant up and down motion of riding, the factt hat they have no @$$ in them and most of us wear jeans = a raw glutious maximus after a few hours. and I can't believe I am even answering this question

A jock strap would actually be quite uncomfortable when riding since they are not designed to have constant pressure put on them. So, no, they do not need to wear one while riding.
However, there are things made for equestrians and bikers (same situtation for road cyclists) which are padded underwear. They make them for men and women. They offer support and padding where you need it most.
Hope that helps!

The guys I know wear tightie whities or boxer/briefs and tighter pants to protect themselves. Too much flopping around with baggy jeans and boxers I guess.

I don't even want to think about it. You've screwed me up now, every time I see a guy ride, I'm always going to wonder.
