Yes, you can definitely go to a community college first & then transfer to a UC afterwards to receive a BS/BA degree then apply to one of the UC's medical school.

Transferring from a community college to a UC school isn't hard at all. Students will need 60 UC transferable units & effective fall 2009, a GPA of 3.0 will be required by the end of the previous fall semester for fall admission to a UC.

Since I dont know what community college you're currently attending, I wont be able to tell you exactly what classes you need to take therefore, I would highly advise you to go & visit assist.org to see what classes you will have to take or go stop by the transfer center at school.

Since you mention that you want to go to a UC medical school, here are the pre-med requirements: 1 year of general chemistry + lab, 1 year of organic chemistry + lab, 1 year of biology + lab, 1 year of physics + lab, 1 year of math (calculus or statistics), & 1 year of English. You can complete some of these courses while at a community college. However, before applying to medical school, they would want you to complete at least one year of course work at an accredited four year university before applying. After this, you will need to take the MCAT & then start on your medical school application.

Remember, you don't have to be a science major to apply for medical school. Just take those following classes listed above. My advice is that you choose a major that you enjoy learning about. It will definitely make school more enjoyable to you. Good luck with everything!

I got my PhD at UC-Berkeley & taught some undergraduate classes there. Several of my students had transferred in from community colleges. The UC schools reserve several spots for transfer students.

The UC schools will only take the best -- so if you start off in a CC -- make sure you get great grades. Of course, you would need them if you want ot go to Medical School.

A degree from any UC school will aid you in getting into a medical school.
