the taj mahal is in Agra India. it was built by Shah Jahan who was madly in love with his wife Arjumand Banu.It was meant as an expression of devotion.the shah cut off the hands of the major craftsmen who had constructed it-so that they could not re-produce it.the shah's son Aurangzeb took over in a coup and imprisoned his father but allowed him to entombed with his beloved at the end of his life,the british also looted it during their colonial period, but the Indian government has fully restored it. It is a UNESCO world heritage site. It is considered one of the new seven wonders of the world as of July 07 2007.
