you cant just become preppy man. you gotta be preppy.

Preppy okay man this is what you do.

Go Buy Different shirts, they will most likely be polo shirts. Lacoste, Burberry, Le tigre, Ralph Lauren,

Then you got to wear pants not jeans and shorts not jean shorts.

Then you gotta get that preppy hair cut. Yeah that one type all them pretty boys wear. Just look at a fashion magazine and look at a guy who looks kind of like you or you look kind of like him and if you like his look then steal it. But its gotta be a clean cut look.

Then you gotta be in with the proper sports like polo, tennis, and fencing, and water polo, and swimming.

then you gotta be like that man, you gotta be rich and you gotta be smart and you gotta be athletic and you gotta be perfect and you gotta have the girls and you gotta get them the way that superficial people fall into superficiality.

You cant just be preppy man, either you got it or you don't.

Man

Abercrombie and Fitch, American Eagle, Hollister, J. Crew, and Ralph Laurent are the best prep brands. (J. Crew and Ralph are more conservative than AF and AE, but they are where preppiness originated).
Preppy hairstyles are more clean-cut.
Have a fit body, but not weirdly muscular, not like body builder.

Dress preppy if you want, but don't have a preppy attitude. That facade deteriorates fast and you'll be seen as a poser, as all preps are. I love preppy clothes, just not the attitude.

Don't listen to the person who said preppy was conservative scum. Most prep companies draw inspiration from California, which is far from conservative.

1. Hollister, American Eagle, Ambercrombie & Fitch, and maybe Aeropostale

2. Check MTV or VH1 out, a lot of those hairstyles will work.

3. Average, but with a lot of definition.

4. Preppy is a social group. Its no worse than being Hippie or Gangstah or Emo. Anyone hwo calls it evil needs to grow a brain.

"A prep...someone who is classy and classic, not too showy or they would not be a prep, generally from the new england area, but can also be from the south, usually from a private "prep" school like Woodberry Forest or Baylor or Harpeth Hall, girls dress incudes polos, khakis, cardigans, floral dresses, cable knit sweaters, from places like polo, lilly, jcrew, and ck bradley, they carry tote bags with their monograms from llbean , wear pearls and silver monogram jewelry, wear ribbon belts from eliza b, and do not dress slutty in any way, boys wear polos, khakis, madras print shorts from banana, polo, jcrew, and nantucket reds, jackets from the north face, flip flops from rainbows, scruffed up baseball caps, the color code for both includes bright colors like pink, green, purple, and yellow, they are generally smart and nice and from a good, well-established family, they get into selective, private colleges, they sail, play tennis, golf, and swimming, as well as lacrosse and field hockey and sometimes soccer"

"As a person who is rather familiar with the 'preppy' lifestyle I though I should clarify some of the definations in here.
A TRUE prep DOES NOT wear Abercrombie & Fitch, American Eagle, Hollister ect. nor do they wear slutty or revealing clothes.
They DO wear Lacoste, Ralph Lauren Polo, Lilly, Brooks Brothers, L.L. Bean, North Face, Birkinstock and J.Crew. Sweaters are worn around the neck and collars are always popped. Ribbons are often worn as belts and/or in their hair. Girls wear little or no makeup. They love pearls. For boys, nantucket red khakis are a must. Some wear layerd polos.
Most preppies attend private schools (ie Tabor Academy) and then private colleges in New England.
Many live in the New England area (Massachusetts, Connecticut sometimes New York) Most people sterotype them to be rich and stuck up but this is mostly not the case. Most preps do not flaunt their money.
Sports include sailing (a must), golf, tennis, lacrosse, soccer and skiing.
Many prep families vacation in Vermont in the winter and Cape Cod, Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard in the summer.
There are many 'wannabe' preps floating around today because they think it is 'cool.' Real preppies have been so since birth. They usually come form a long line of preps.

i am only answering this because i saw what freddy b wrote. and a couple of other people said things like "eww don't be a prep." well, i think many people have different definitions of prep. some people think they are conceited and stuck up. some people think preps are rich. well, i shop at hollister and american eagle and i am not conceited whatsoever and i am not rich either. i'm not dirt poor, but i'm not overflowing with money. i like the style. if i liked the whole punk rock style, i'd wear that stuff. if i liked the hippie style, i'd wear that stuff. people need to calm down, especially freddie b. he said this and i quote " they hate poor ppl. there stupid conservative republican scum!! they like george bush they suck!!!!" okay, first of all, i am what some people call preppy and i am actual very liberal, and i am a democrat. and, i do not support george bush. freddie b is being sterotypical wich makes him no better than anyone. and now to answer your question, i have to be stereotypical for a moment to answer your question. most people that are considered preppy shop at stores such as "hollister, american eagle, and abercrombie and fitch." and about the hairstyle, i've seen many preppy people having different hair styles, so do what you wish. and another thing. the "preppy" friends i have are all comfortable with who we are, we are all easy going and laid back, and we do not think we are better than others. another thing is the reason we care about the way we look sometimes is because we want to look nice, but it's not because we think we're better than others. we would just rather look well put together than look dumpy, or look like we don't take care of ourselves or care about ourselves. you could wear wal mart clothes, but still care about the way you look, and be comfortable with who you are.

There's nothing wrong with expensive clothing. It often looks better for the occasion. But, if you want to be a true prep, buy expensive clothing not for the looks but because of how much it costs and because you know that others know how much it costs.

"Preppy" isn't a style, it's an ID group. Like, "I dress gangsta because I want to look like a rapper," or ,"I dress punk because I want to look like all those people with cool spiky green hair." "I dress preppy because I want to look rich."

Look up preppy on google.com, on wikipedia... see what you find.

There's nothing wrong with trying to reinvent yourself. You are probably young and experimenting.

If you want to go "preppy", start at the preppy homeland. JCrew. That's all you need to know. Check out theJCrew website and you'll see styles and haicuts appropriate for what you want.

just be yourself, thats soo much better tyhen bing something your not. but to answer your question, you should probably wear, hollister, abercrombie, american eagle, aeropostale and stuff like that. your hair style should be spiked. i would go with having an average body because i think it looks a lot better then having a really muscular body. and you should probably spen a lot of money on your hair products and your clothes because people deff. notice what you wear.

1. shop at abercrombie, american eagle, and other places like that
2. hair...doesnt really matter all that much. just not too short and not too long. as well as not "emo" or "gothic" style
3. slightly muscular, like the football players. not super muscular though, thats kinda weird
4. be who you are if your not preppy don't try to be.
