How do I organically fertilize peach tree in lawn?

Question

I have a peach tree in my front lawn. There is no room to work anything into the soil as it is surrounded by grass. How can I fertilize it with organic fertilizers without destroying or burning the lawn? What kind of fertilizers should I use?

There is a three foot area around the perimeter of the tree already where I've installed weed-barrier plastic and pine bark which I do not want to disturb.

There is a good organic fertilizer company called ESPOMA, they are a nationwide company so you should be able to find their product at your local independent garden center. Check them out on the WEB as well. I'm sure they have a product for fruit trees (if nothing else, look at the 'Gardentone' product)

They sell granular fertilizer. The directions will indicate to use a number of cups of product. Always follow the directions on all of your garden chemicals or fertilizers.

Use a thick tomato wooden tomato stake, and drive it into the ground about 8-10" deep. Do this at the drip line of the tree (the furthest point that the branches reach, and then in toward the trunk about a foot). Drive at least four holes, though more is better, probably no more than 10 or 12. Distribute the fertilizer into those holes... as evenly as you can figure. So, if the instructions say to use 3 cups of fertilizer, you would divide that much fertilizer into 4 (or how many holes) holes that you have made. Follow the directions, but ESPOMA products are generally used 2 or more times per year...

Back fill in the holes with a little topsoil. The grass should fill in those spots in weeks.

Apply a liquid fertilizer around the tree at the drip line.

If you can't find an organic one in the store, then you can make some manure tea. To make tea get organic compost or organic composted manure, put it in a fabric or burlap bag, tie it shut with a rope, place it in the bottom of a bucket and tie the other end of the string to the handle (so it doesn't fall in). Fill the bucket with water and let stand in a sunny area for a few days to a week. When ready, lift out the tea-bag by the rope and water your tree and grass with the tea. If it seems too strong, you can always add water.
