Classical music provided me with an escape from growing up poor in the mean streets of the inner city. Through an arts program at my grammar school that allowed certain grades to attend concerts performed by our local symphony orchestra, I was first introduced to Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5. I remember being emotionally transfixed by the virtuosity of the 1st movement in a way that startled me at first, and then left me breathlessly perplexed. How could music do this, and why wasn't anyone I knew hip to it? The 2nd movement, delicately simple while hauntingly beautiful made me cry. I was embarassed with so many strangers around me, but there wasn't a thing I could do but sit there and let the tears flow. Maybe the music had touched the pain I couldn't let go of until then for the beloved father I had lost, maybe it had given me permission to grieve the death of Dr. King and the promise of hope that died with him, or maybe it was just providing me a respite from being a little black girl living constantly in the eye of a storm. I don't know what.
I do know, however, that to this day, listening to Brahms, Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Debussy, Chopin (his magnificent Etude in A Flat Major) and so many others transports me beyond my current situation, whatever it is, and assures me that "this too will pass."
I am grateful for discovering the soul that is classical music.

Whenever we have the program in our society such as funeral program and so as like this, at this condition people like to have the soft music rather than the rock.According to the place and the environment if we have a look on it then we will find that classical music has played an important role on uplifting the social values, norms, culture, traditions because classical music reflects our society. It reflects our past so thats why to make known to every individual classical music and will play a great role regarding the contribution for a society.Through my Classical explorations I have found many interesting ties from today's Classical, to that of yesterday's. This gives the idea of Classical music so much depth, that one could trace the styles of a song written today to the 1700s. I have always loved how similar John Williams' Star Wars Themes have sounded so similar to Dvorak's New World Symphony. It gives the idea of frontiers in each song. Space: the final frontier, where as America was the new frontier in Dvorak's time, these two ideas link the past and the present, making Classical music have the most cultural feel of any music.

From time immemorial, man has learned to play music. When the music developed harmony, the listener gets involvement. In order to keep a person involved, it requires to meet certain conditions.
Every culture has its own classical music. While folk music remained only as entertaining, Classical music had developed impacting on personnel. The rules with which a classical music is composed and sung, the flow, the harmony etc., influences a person to a great extend. While the normal songs and folk music entertain the ears, the classical music entertain and satisfy the body and soul. The rhythm, the pitch the tune etc., creats a vibrant effect on each and every cell of the body and the result is remarkable.
Studies have shown that certain classical music can cure diseases, Pacify minds, control emotions, create emotions, create social harmony and so on. this is the result of continuous research by our forefathers and the present time muscicians.
Classical music is heavenly. Once it is spread in the society, the people develop a rapport among themsleves. They unite for enjoying the music. They become like minded. Confrontation is reduced. Even physiologically, there is unity developed amoung people.
The problem has been that it was not understandable for the common man. There must be a method by which the commoner also should be able to understand the intricacies of the classical music and then it is going to do miracles.
In eastern classical music, the Ragas( Tunes) are so important and each raga has a purpose and effect. Once it is explained and sung, the enjoyment has no limit and so is the effect individually and socially.

I think more emphasis needs to be placed on introductory music for children of all very young ages. Our two year old loves the marches. The infants love the lullabies and the 5 year olds the "fast stuff". As a girl, I was facinated when I learned the "Moldau" was a dew dropping into a puddle, then a stream, then a mighty river. The stories behind the music must be kept alive and continue down to every generation.
The music of List and the rapsodies may be of interest to the older children but I fear only if they have been introduced young. Whenever we have the program in our society such as funeral program and so as like this, at this condition people like to have the soft music rather than the rock.According to the place and the environment if we have a look on it then we will find that classical music has played an important role on uplifting the social values, norms, culture, traditions because classical music reflects our society. It reflects our past so thats why to make known to every individual classical music and will play a great role regarding the contribution for a society.

What is the most important contribution classical music can make to society? Well, imho, it has already contributed a great deal...I think Igor Stravinsky made a huge impact by actually changing the way people thought about music, he made them see that change in style is not necessarily a bad thing, and I think music today continues in the same vein, though not with the same success I don't think. Classical music has always been a part of my life from early childhood on, and the history of classical music has also been a part of ongoing education. Impacted my life? It has made me appreciate so much more than I believe I would have otherwise. Appreciate the time effort and thought that goes into any kind of art. Appreciate that simply because I am not accustomed to a certain kind of music, doesn't mean it has no value. And appreciate that the power of good music must never be underestimated, done right, music can change thought processes on a grand scale.

Though the sounds may have changed over the years, it maintains close ties to its ancestors. The most important contribution classical music makes is that it's there. It seems like it has always been there and will always be there. It is the background music to our lives. Each and every one of us, young, old, rich, poor, educated and ignorant, have heard and enjoyed it at some point. Whether it was bringing life to favorite scene to a favorite movie, or being played at a wedding or graduation or falling over the people at a crowded airport. It is there and remains so along with the memory.
It affects our lives by giving our feelings a voice. Nothing can bring back a memory, good or bad, like the music that was playing when it happened. Sometimes the memory is lost until the song plays, then like a tidal wave, all the emotions come pouring in.
Classical music should be considered the 6th sense. A sight, a smell, a taste, a touch, a sound, a song. The one thing these all have in common is their capacity to make us remember.

Classical music has added a whole new dimension to my musical endeavors. Whenever I get sick of listening to some genre, I always have Classical music to listen to. Classical music to me represents the solidarity of our society. Its age and popularity has remained strong for centuries. I have liked Classical music for a while now, and it has influenced me in more ways than just listening, but it has a great impact on society, too. There is nothing like going to a symphony in a concert hall. All the people there are enjoying the same thing, but each person has different interpretations of what he or she is hearing. The conversations afterward help bind today's friends, families, and communities better than ever. In essence, Classical music is the music that holds today's society together.

It has obviously a connection effect between people. Today everyone in the world knows something about Mozart's Symphony No 9. Every person (educated or uneducated) is familiar with the names Beethoven, Mozart or Bach.
In my opinion classical music can turn the emotions into something audible. If we listen to a classical part carefully we can tell the happiness, sadness, anger or sense of victory in it. If a song is made by classical music instruments I find it very powerful regardless it's type. For example I believe Apocalyptica proved that very good rock songs can be played with classical instruments. And I think they proved that those instruments are still universal can play almost any kind of music.
There are some studies claiming that classical music has a positive effect on people with mental problems. Even there are some studies searching the positive effect of classical music on farm animals.
That's why I find classical music as an important part of life. If society can have an acces to it then it would be wonderful.
