okay, everytime I go to NYC I would always play a little game of finding a talent agent. Then maybe I could try to perform infront of them, right then and there and maybe I'll get discovered. I know a lot of famous kids who were discovered by agents when they were just walking in the streets. But how can I search for talent agents? Do they wear business clothes or something?

Those stories you've heard about kids being discovered walking down the street are apocraphyl. Sorry...I mean some doo-doo head made them up so's they could sound big. Everyone who has a career in show business had to work for it. If you want one you'll have to do the same. Your scheme is silly and if you really want to do this you'll have to do it right or forget it altogether. Nobody will sign you unless you can deliver. You can't unless you put in the time to learn the craft.

OK, your little game will not help you a bit.. The only way to get an agent is to have a dynamite resume filled with experience and training and a headshot that shows you have a marketable look, and oh yes, a letter from your parents asking the agency to represent you and all this is mailed to the agency and if they are interested in you , they get in touch, otherwise you never hear nothing. You see, talent agents are not magicians waiting to turn sows' ears into silk purses. They are not at all interested in an inexperienced nobody. Their clients have to compete with the best actors in the world.

The procedure in NYC is to perform in what are referred to as Showcase productions.

When you book a role in a showcase, mail your photo and headshot to Talent Agencies and ask them to attend your showcase production.

Auditions for showcase productions are often listed in Backstage.

Always let the Talent Agency know you will provide two (2) comps to the productio for them. Often an agent and assistant will attend a showcase.

Do not follow-up with the agencies, if they attended the showcase and liked your work and can use your "type," they will contact you. If they didn't they will not contact you.

Do not try to get discovered. Agents look like everyone else in NYC.

be careful. do no longer examine in with any employer that asks for money prematurely. in case you're truly proficient they're going to locate you the jobs and then take a proportion of your costs. in case you've gotten the money for it or are sturdy adequate to get a scholarship the perfect get entry to to the occupation is thru a qualified direction at between the nicely everyday performing faculties like the Royal Academy of Dramatic artwork or Italia Conti. some nicely everyday actors have worked their way up from doing greater artwork and or partaking in intense high quality beginner productions, yet apart from the fortunate few, it truly is a occupation stricken by ability of failure and broken desires. try to be sturdy and actual choose it or maybe that may not be adequate
