Well...from the prospective of life, and the basics of what each party stands for, experience has taught me this.
The democrats are basically a touchy, feely organization that wants to level the playing field for all, so that all are covered for opportunity, health, advancement, etc. This does sound nice...however we all know that this isn't practical in the real world. After all, why should someone that busted their hump to make it big in the world have to be forced to do lesser, or pay more, or some other way be levelled off to the same level as someone who isn't driven, or motivated or passionate about their own life or where it is going. This is capitalism, and if your better off, by the fruits of your own labor, you deserve more. That is what America is all about, all have equal opportunity based on your personality. True, we all know that there are inequalities in the system. That also is life. Not everyone is afforded the same monetary support, or opportunity for education, many have died in the past due to lacking medical techniques......sad...but true, life is what it is. You can not "make" it equal without taking from someone else. This is where the liberals are dead wrong on their ideology. They have no right to steal from the rich or motivated, or lucky just to supply their idea of fairness on the less fortunate. And this is why celebrities fall into the category. If liberals and/ or democrats fall into their lines of thinking due to ivory tower thinking and a warped sense of raising the lower half...at the expense of the upper half, celeb's don't have the time to go into in-depth understandings of politics. They do what i'm sure their heart tells them...or maybe what their politics tells them, but they know only what they see in the media...which is over whelmingly bias'd liberal, and what their friends, family or PR reps tell them. The liberal side seems a bit more emotionally driven and not so weighted with facts, data or statistics. Obviously this doesn't apply to all libs and demo's....but for the most part it does cover a majority of them.. Proof might be seen in every day commentary of their leaders, flopping on issues that they think people haven't remembered since it happened a few years back or doing things specifically for show rather than a real concerted effort to accomplish things. The examples are too numberous to even list.
As for the Conservatives / Republicans, I understand that in general, they do want people to stop being victims. They wish people to stand up, deal with lifes problems as best they can and be strong, independant and think for yourself. The problem is that not all people are of this making. They erally don't have it in them to be a leader, so they just get by. Some are unfortunately left behind in their programs. To be strong, free and independant sounds nice, but there are many issues in American society that leave people out of the loop. For instance the single mother, with all these rules and regulations the state and fed's have regarding when you can leave them alone, how much baby sitters cost, etc, etc, Where would such a person find the time or opportunity to get a good education and following that, a good job. Wellfare reform left alot of these mothers worried. Its a bit more complex than that, but was meant to be a simple example of how people that are struggling are sometimes left behind. Most working class and blue collars live this American life and dream everyday, it is what made America the great nation is has been in the past.
All in all, I think the important balance that most people should engage in is to ask oneself what made this country great in the past, what were our mistakes in the past so we don't repeat them, be humble enough to know your place...for instance unless your privy to the details of the Iraq intel....why would Joe average American think he know's enough about any conflict or war situation to give a useful opinion that bears any weight ?
I weigh the scales of my decision based on how any item effects people. For instance, global warming. A hot topic to be sure, and I believe there is enough evidence to conclude it is happening. Problem is...No one is asking the real question. Is this abnormal and is it a "real" problem. Going back in the various media for the past 100 years, we are now on our third cycle of heating, then cooling, heating, then cooling. Time magazine even had Manhattan Island burried in a glacier. Due to the bias in the media, people aren't even asking the right questions. Scientists that are coming forward and debunking global warming are being discredited in the news and having their grants pulled, Al Gore has been too afraid to debate people in scientific positions ore positions dealing with the real science. People believe what he says based on a sham of a movie. He's in politics people..what does he know ? I want to know why the last big fear...the hole in the ozone just seemingly disappeared. Why was it reported to be the largest in 1956....a date before most of the world even used CFC's. People skew the truth all the time. Many things may happen in the world that really "gets your goat" or makes you furious, and IF they are true, then that would be ok, All i've ever asked is for people to be mature and honest enough to do a little cross-checking, a little research, and don't fall for the usual snake oil. In my opinion, I trush the conservatives more than the liberals and I am an independant. The reason is simple, the liberal media keeps the conservatives honest, no one is scrutinizing the libs as hard, so they get a free pass, and a free pass usually breeds corruption. Need proof ? What about Robert Gonzales ? He dismisses 8 US attorneys for what they find out is political reasons and they cry for his resignation. Very true, he didn't do it with much sympathy or couth, but it was his right. Now compare that to Bill Clinton who dismissed all 93 including the ones investigating the White Water scandal, and he even admitted it was for political reasons. I judge the 2 major parties by how they are treated by people and the press after committing similar offenses. Another example lately might be Larry Craig, after someone on the lib/Democrat side ran a gay prostitution ring out of his house.

First Poster: Reported.

Political support among the wealthy is actually pretty evenly split. There's just a couple of misperceptions floating around. Which one, if any, you hold depend on who you listen to.

Liberals will tell you all wealthy people are greedy and support Republicans becuase Republicans are greedy. Its just a political message designed to get you to buy into higher taxes.

On the other hand, Republicans get the impression that most of the wealthy support Democrats because those that do are more vocal about it. They're more prominent and place themselves on center stage when they do it. Soros and Warner are perfect examples.

You also get into the problem of truly wealthy people contributing to both political parties. Either personally or through a business.

As for Hollywood, the person that said A-list celebrities are Republican is just flat out wrong. That is the one group of wealthy that are truly and massively liberal. Not all of them, there are a few exceptions. But by far most of them.

Well you know what happens when we assume, don't you ? There's as many rich and wealthy elites with a stake in the Republicans as the Democrats. It's likely a 60/40 split if anything, it's just the Demos seem to attract the most vocal and woefully mis-informed of them at times. ;-)

Many of the Hollywood Elite supporters of the Democratic party are from average working American families. they remember how hard it was when there was a layoff at the plant or a strike.

The Republican base has been identified as Christian Evangelicals, which is why Bush proclaims that he has found Jesus, that 30%, mostly gay bashing pro lifers, don't object to our soldiers dying in Iraq so George represents their values.

The rich Republicans got the big tax break they wanted so they will stick with George.

My somewhat educated guess is that around 60% of the wealthiest 1% are Republicans. I'd estimate that wealthy members of the arts and entertainment industry to be 90% Democrat.

Anything to get them elected! They proclaim open boarders, but lock their houses and cars. They are not leading by examples! Union "Fat Cat" Bosses pay themselves more: Rounding out the top five Union Bosses making themselves richer off the largest unions (in 2004) are President Douglas McCarron of Carpenters and Joiners of America whose gross salary was $348,923 and AFSCME President Gerald McEntee's $316,916. Lastly, John Sweeney of the AFL-CIO took from union members $247,500. It is an outrage that Union Presidents on average (2004) make 6 to 15X what the average union worker made in that same year.

The Liberal elite panders to the poor to garner a voting base. I haven't seen the poor actually benefit by their government programs, beyond subsistence. I think a plan to teach them how to gain and manage income would be more beneficial.

But both parties have their share of rich, middle and poor.

Um... Democrats support more social (gasp!!!!) programs, such as health care, children's rights, reproductive rights, and helping the poor.

I haven't really heard anyone even pretend that republicans represent your average working family, except maybe a Bible-thimping one.
