...would you go looking for it?

I am who I am today because of everything that exist within and also around me. The shadow attached to me was cast by none other than me; therefore whatever mischief it has done, I have only myself to reproach. My shadow is a part of who I am, so the shadow IS me, even if it is only a shadow. And it is up to me to control it as well.

And when I lose it, I lose a part of myself too. And I would want to look for it, even if I just want it around as a silent and muted companion on a day when they skies are gray.

But I realize now that all I have to do to find it is by going to where the light is. And not where darkness perpetually reigns…

My shadow had its own way of thinking then. If it stopped following me, it might not like where I was heading. But I'd take my chances and walk right back to check where it might have gone. If I found out he'd fallen into some open manhole, then I'd be sure it rests in peace. If I couldn't find him anywhere, that might mean it's just somewhere round some corners playing hide and seek to 'pick-a-boo' me.
Seriously now,..my shadow is my only loyal companion. It's the only one that listens patiently to my gripes, and my joys. If it stops one day...I'd be so sad...knowing that's the final end of our adventures. But I'd be glad on the other hand...knowing how faithful a partner it is...that it would still be with me even to my grave.

A shadow? You mean a spy or a detective hired by someone to follow me around? Acckkk.

You have to be important, or a celebrity to have papparazi following you. If they stop, then that only means one thing, you dont count anymore. Nobody wants to know what you are doing.

I guess that you would be curious for a few days, and then just shrug it off and say "good riddance".

Chances are I have no shadow than my own, and my own follows me not because it wants to but because of the laws of physics.

I'd follow it around to see what it does, and also in case it needs me as a shadow.

What a great question! You got some funny, some thoughtful & insightful answers. When I saw it, a song popped into my head that I haven't remembered for DECADES. My grandmum used to sing it & I hope I can remember all the words, (I'm whistling the melody right now--that may help):

Me & my shadow
All alone & feeling blue
Me & my shadow
Not a soul to tell our troubles to.

And when it's 6 o'clock,
I climb the stair,
I never knock,
For nobody's there.

Just me & my shadow,
All alone & feeling blue.

How about that! Kinda cute? I'd probably never have remembered it...

I don't think that shadows can decide. Has your brain stopped following you around? No offense.
