It seems that no matter what President Bush says in his addresses, the democratic congress is armed with dissent. Is there anything they can agree on?

That's how both sides react to anything a member of another political party says. It's the result of the extreme polarization of this country. Everybody wants to blame somebody else. It has become the American way.

He could start by listening to the will of the people that put that congress in place in 2006.
He could also try acting in a bipartisan way himself. Remember Bush had the unqualified support of the Democrats in 2001. He has since then been the most divisive influence in the US I can remember. Even his rhetoric seems deliberately aimed at alienating any alternative viewpoint (remember "you are either with us or against us"). If Bush wants bipartisan support for anything he should start by showing some inkling of being able to deliver that himself.

ok - The Senate isn't democrat controlled. the home is - fairly. Approval rankings for Congress are consistently under the president - and in case you afflicted to truly seem on the polls you may see that Republicans in congress are polling under Dems in congress. maximum individuals nonetheless have confidence the Dems greater, the two interior the White living house and the Capitol.

They hate Bush and dont want nothing to do with his policies. If you support Bush try to convince as many voters you know to keep voting Republican. I know some Republican Reps have let us down but do you want the Dems to have control.
Do some research... the last time Dems had full control under Jimmie Carter look at where our country was at. It has been the Republicans that have cleaned it up

The Democrats' approach seems solely focused on getting elected. The anti-Bush approached seemed to work for them in 2006 and I look for them to use it in 2008.

Personally, I think it is time for Republicans to take ourselves off the defense focus on the future.

Hello everyone.

I'm a soldier in the U.S. Army and have been for 3 and 1/2 yrs.
I re-enlisted for 5 more years while in Afghanistan and I'll end up with 8 total yrs. if I
don't re-up again. Anyways I wanted to tell you all the truth about
these so called troop reductions that are being talked about. Ever
wonder why the Government always says we are withdrawin so many
thousands of troops but somehow the troop level stays the same? It's
because they are lying to you and also telling you the truth at the
same time! Every time they say they are pulling out oh 5000 troops,
they do. What they don't put on the front page is that another 5000
troops are moving in to take their place. It's all part of the force
rotation. Don't let them fool you! If you truly want troop reductions
the look not only at how many troops are coming home, but how many are
leaving home as well. I and my unit are scheduled to go to Iraq later
this year...to replace those that are coming home which are part of the
current troop "reductions". Help us. WE ARE DYING FOR YOU!

Perhaps they can agree that congress has lower approval ratings than the president.

If President Bush agreed to fire Dick Cheney, replace him with a liberal democrat, and then resign himself...they'd not even offer an amendment to fund kangaroo rat environment research, they'd agree!

Everything else, like protecting the US, they'll fight about and still try to get pork while funding our troops in harms way.

I think the Dems would like to hear:

Yes, gays can be married
More handouts for the lazy and worthless
Let's tuck our tails and run away
No, I don't think Ted Kennedy killed Mary Joe Kopekne
Isn't Nacy Pelosi just wonderful!
We should free those poor little terrorist from Gitmo
