You know, I grew up as a child so many decades ago ... and it was expected that the Birthday Person provide the "Treats" (whether cookies, cakes, whatever) to those who were their "Guests" at the Birthday Party (and the "Guests" were NOT expected, but politeness encouraged, a VERY Small gift to the PARTY GIVER (the Birthday person))..

Is there some reason you'd do this ... like some friends are financially 'challenged' and need something (like school supplies) ... or are you donating to Charity (for those less well off)?

Sure. When I was a kid, we had to bring the treat to school on our birthday. Cookies, cupcakes, brownies or fudge. All homemade back in the late 50's

Yes, I have heard of several parties where people give gifts to the guest. I have also heard of parties where all the gifts are given to the needy..... Neat idea
