Cross multiply: ad = bc
Divide by d: (ad)/d = (bc)/d
a = (bc)/d
Divide by c: a/c = (bc)/(cd)
(a/c) = (b/d)

Because you always can switch the means (the two "middle" terms - the bottom of the first fraction and the top of the second fraction) without changing the value when you cross multiply, do that.

so, instead of a/b = c/d, you can write a/c = b/d. if you cross multiply to check, each time you will get: ad = bc, so that shows you that it does not matter which way you write it as long as you are switching only the "means."

It could be a lot of things, but here is one: a\b=3\6 c\d=1\2 So c is 1.

multiply both side by 1/c to get a/bc = 1/d
Then multiply both side by b to get a/c = b/d.
so you're finish now.

a/b=c/d
multiply both sides by "b"
(a/b)*b=(c/d)*b
since b/b=1,
a=cb/d
divide both sies by "c"
a/c=(cb/d)/c
since c/c=1,
a/c=b/d
QED.
