I grew up with 5 siblings, but we always had the essentials !
A roof over our heads, food in our bellies, plenty of love and hand me downs. Even though we might have been "deprived" of some material things, we always had love and respect for our parents.
We were very grateful when we did get a little something.
Unfortunately, I can't say the same about kids growing up today, they feel that everything is owed to them and that money grows on trees.
Hugs,

I wouldn't use the word deprived but there were things that we went without. As an adult I don't find myself acquiring things I don't need. When I was a teen I did but now I've learned to manage my money better.

That would often be the result of childhood deprivation. I wasn't deprived, personally,so I acquire things I don't need as an exercise in existentialism.

Well, for most of my life my family lived in one room...only recently we got a small house with two bedrooms, and in the last 2 years I have been working hard to earn money so I can actually shop in a mall, and not a thrift shop.Sometimes, if I have some money saved up, I'll just buy something because I remember a time when we didnt have that something and we needed it. But I usually return it in the end, because I don't want to waste my money.
Good Luck!

If I were deprived, I would be much better off, for I would be more then likely somewere so far away, that I wouldnt know what a I-Pod was, and then would become more self suffecient. Flat screens wouldnt mean anything too me, can you catch my drift???

Sadly, yes. I used to want fruit roll ups as a kid and my mom never bought them, when I got older and my nephew offered me one of his I nearly ate up the whole box, he's cautious now when offering me something. Another thing that I wanted terribly was a power wheel. I wanted one soo badly to the point that one day while visiting my aunt and her little girl, I noticed that she had one. I was 15 at the time and was too big to fit into her power wheel but I tried to drive it anyway. I didn't get very far...It wouldn't cooperate.

No, I was raised without alot, and I still live happily without alot. Everything's relative, I guess.
