how about surfing the net... try google or any search engine that the internet can offer... this one comes from "behind the name, the etymology and history of first names... From a surname which was derived from a place name meaning "hill covered with broom" in Old English. It is sometimes also used as a variant of BRENDAN.

It means sword, and before I researched the meaning, I liked the sound of that name. Now I am not so sure.
