androgynous- being both male and female.

I cannot think of sentence except this one..
The group was androgynous.

Cause the group had both males and females in it..
Would that work?

I think the word is meant to be applied to one individual or thing that has both male and female characteristics.

Remember that funny character Pat, on Saturday Night live? You couldn't tell if it was a him or a her?

Some snakes, I understand, have both male and female sexual organs...quite androgynous.

Nope. An androgynous group is not a group of people from both sexes. Rather, a group of long-haired artsy types would be an example of an androgynous group.

Here's a different sentence for you: The reason preteen girls are drawn to androgynous teen idols is because these young men appear to be non-threatening.
