You have given your son the greatest and most lasting gift that a Parent can do for a child, you have made him aware that Mother really knows best, and that you are there for him through thick or thin.

my 15 yr old and 11 yr old do...they know i love them more than anyone on this planet and i am the only one that is doing everything i can to be sure they turn out to be independent and educated adults, able to take care of themselves, be financially stable, and sensible members of society.
i even have students that have thanked me for using tough love on them. they are now in college and/or in stable jobs and able to take care of themselves.

Yes... wasn't it the weirdest thing? I thought that that would happen in decades to come, i always told her "You will thank me for disciplinning you someday" but i never thought that someday would come so soon

actually, YES. I raise my almost 12 yr old grandson and he had a couple of issues during the summer. He knew how wrong he was and although he didn't actually say "thank you" he told me he knew he deserved his discipline.
PS I don't spank
