I have a mom. Its her bday next weekend. Im going to take her out for a night in town. What show, between mamma mia, les mes should I take her to see? And would you really recommend the matt shows on sunday afternoon vs the sat night, or no? Thanks again.

PS: any other shows in mind? I already saw wicked, beauty and the beast, Hair Spray, RENT. Thanks

What about Mary Poppins or Legally Blond? I love Les Miz, but for me I've been there done that many times and there are just sooo many other shows out there but it is a great show. I know people LOVE Mamma Mia, it just doesn't make me want to see it. I saw Curtains and I really liked it, but I wouldn't make that my special night.

As for matinee vs Sat. night... nothing beats a Sat night, but if you're talking next weekend and you don't have tickets yet... you'll be lucky to get whatever tickets you can find.

Have fun!

Mama Mia? Well, I personally boycott those jukebox musicals...... As for Les Mis, its a good show, but why not go see the musical that has run longer (and is better) than any other in history? If you can only see one show on broadway, without doubt it should be The Phantom of the Opera. Everyone loves the phantom, great music, a bit of comedy, mystery, romance, horror... if you liked beaty and the beast, you'll love this! I've seen it six times, and the sixth was in the absolute last seat of the last row, with an understudy (Jason Mills) playing the role of the Phantom and I still came out loving it even more........ best show ever...... oh, and personally I like the night shows better, but thats just me. I always think the show should be sort of the ! of the day.. with matinees I always feel weird coming out and thinking... okay what now? But anyway... DEFINTELY see the Phantom if you haven't yet. You won't regret it.

Les Mis is a good one if she hasn't seen it. Go with the Saturday night. It's more expensive and probably harder to get tickets, but if she can't tell the difference between the A squad and the scrubs, go to the matt.

I'm a mom and I would vote for Mamma Mia on Sun. But I would really like to see Spamalot.

If your mom is turning 40+ then she will defiantly enjoy Mama Mia because all the music was a big hit in her time.

How about Curtains? It's supposed to be hilarious and David Hyde Pierce is in it.
