I guess there's really no pros and cons to being right or left handed....but it's pretty cool to be left handed because it's something different.

In some sports having your left hand be stronger is an advantage. If you learn to golf right handed your strong left hand gives you added power. In the old days left-handed people were automatically assumed to be evil and the adjective sinister came from the latin word for left-handed. As recently as a couple of generations ago left-handed kids were forced to write right-handed to rid them of those bad tendencies.

left handed people are generally brainy and have more of a rational based approach. Right hand people are creative. However there is an illusion that if you switch to your left hand if you are a right handed person, you will be smart in a day. It takes years of using the left hand to be brainy.
BUt you can be a bit of both. If you grow up left handed and start using your right hand at your teens, you can end up an all rounder. You can be good with calculations and creative.
That's one advantage of starting off left handed.

For the most part lefties tend to be more creative. A tad bit more emotional. Right handed people predominately use the left side of the brain, which is more logical.Left handed people use the right side, which is the more creative. I'm a lefty, and from an early age I've been able to draw fairly well.
Just remember lefties have rights to.

One advantage of being left handed is the individual will use both sides of their brain more equally, this means in the case of damage to the brain, there will be a higher rate of recovery. Other than that, he is still way too young to determine if he will be left or right handed, my son showed signs of left handedness and he is right handed now.

Being left handed I must say you cant really determine yet any pros and cons. I heard somewhere once that left handed people become more artistic and think more optimistic, but I couldn't say for sure if thats true. Just consider it something signifficant your son has that no one else does, that counts for alot more than if he ends up becoming like the next Micheal Angello.

I am left handed and it is a different and great thing. Cons are, our hand writing isnt always as good because most teachers are right handed and teach cursive and such in a right-handed style, while we tilt a different way. thats really all i have ever had a problem with. Most people tell me i have great handwriting though.
** my dad is a lefty and always told me *lefties make better lovers * lol

Left handed right brain--The right brain, on the other hand, functions in a non-verbal manner and excels in visual, spatial, perceptual, and intuitive information. The right brain processes information differently than the left brain. For the right brain, processing happens very quickly and the style of processing is nonlinear and nonsequential. The right brain looks at the whole picture and quickly seeks to determine the spatial relationships of all the parts as they relate to the whole. This component of the brain is not concerned with things falling into patterns because of prescribed rules. On the contrary, the right brain seems to flourish dealing with complexity, ambiguity and paradox. At times, right brain thinking is difficult to put into words because of its complexity, its ability to process information quickly and its non-verbal nature. The right brain has been associated with the realm of creativity.
Right handed left brain--The left brain is associated with verbal, logical, and analytical thinking. It excels in naming and categorizing things, symbolic abstraction, speech, reading, writing, arithmetic. The left brain is very linear: it places things in sequential order -- first things first and then second things second, etc. If you reflect back upon our own educational training, we have been traditionally taught to master the 3 R's: reading, writing and arithmetic -- the domain and strength of the left brain.

There really are no advantages/disadvantages of being either left or right handed. But, you know what they say about left-handed people? They're not right.

Don't worry. I am left-handed and so are my father, brother, and one sister. We are generally pretty bright people. We find it easier to adapt because we have to do so.
