America's decline has already started. The dollar is crap and its education system is in the toilet. Its economy is going down, and its products can't compete globally because of production costs and inferior quality.

Sure the American economy may rebound, but it'll never reach the levels of the late 90s Internet bubble. Plus its reputation is pretty much ruined after the War in Iraq, its general indifference to the Tsunami of 2004, and its poor response to Hurricane Katrina and New Orleans.

Right now, the Euro has eclipsed the US Dollar as the preferred currency for international exchange, so America has lost the most favoured currency status. More foreign money is being invested in Europe, China, and India than the US.

I'd say America still has well over fifty years as the dominant power. Just look at the decline of European power. It took less than half a century, (the start of WWI, 1914 - the end of WWII, 1945) Right now all the international attention is on China, (a little less on India), so watching political and economic developments there should show where the next super power will be. Both countries have combined populations that make up a third of humanity, and both countries have the first, and second fastest growing economies in the world.

My educated guess would be we'll see either China or India eclipse America as the wealthiest and most influential nation sometime around 2050. (Goldman Sachs predicts China's economy is expected to eclipse the US around 2035, and India's is expected to surpass the US by 2042)

There are two possible answers to this:
1. The United States of America is a unique civilization. No other nation or region succeeded as well in setting up a democracy. Perhaps we will not fall.
2. If we don't get rid of the current heads of our national government soon, we may have already fallen.

Until the end of my generation. I'm choosing not to have children. Nuclear, chemical, and biological warefare will change the way wars will be fought. Many ethnic groups and religious groups cannot live harmoniously. It will only be a matter of time before this point of no return is crossed. The US was the only country that had nuclear capability during WWII. After the cold war, who knows how many countries are stocked up on nuclear arms. With all this emphasis on the news about WMD's there's been neglect on chemicals and germs that can destroy populations as well. If our clean water supply was corrupted collectively, there's be no water for food, hair washing, and the poplation will become panick. I'm rambling. It's a very tense global environment...

we are all geared up for another depression -- thats not quite a collapse but more like a come-uppance for being such universal jerks. empires fall and g w has tried to start building an empire but it hasn't worked so great. if we fall nobody is going to come in and rape and pillage -- we have nothing to offer but debt. mexicans and canadians don't want your loveseat and coffee table.

the period before the depression of 1930s was marked with notoriously poor banking practices (like the "sub-prime mortgage" and easy credit scams of the last few years),
very poor immigration policies fueled by corporate demand for illegal labor (in the 20s italians and eastern europeans were often hired over citizens because they would work for lower wages), all we need is a nice big tarrif to seriously mess up international trade. to complete the similarities there were moral scapegoat ammendements to attempt to sway the mob of general public away from watching the corrupt government and toward monitoring their own behavior -- they had prohibition we have attempts at an anti-gay marriage ammendment -- what ever that is supposed to be.

contrary to popular belief the economy and the stock market have little to do with each other -- the stock market crash of 1929 fueled the beginning of the depression but if it were an isolated event there wouldn't have been a depression. the stock market stayed in a slump until well after the ww2 -- it picked up after everything else was booming.

Yes, the roman empire, the greeks and don't forget the British Empire or Commonwealth - the difference is that the British got out before a total collapse ( and I am British ). The american's are going down hill fast now and there's no-one there clever enough to notice. Maybe that's because they're all off overseas invading other countries -- or just maybe this is the american's outsmarting everyone else and getting out before a total economic collapse..........

I'll agree that our govt is, has been, and can preserve to function simply because the Soviets did in regard to international coverage. The U.S. does no longer have ethical top floor with regards to "conversion by means of the sword" to "democracy." This is why men and women like Ron Paul are fresh. I'm no longer a type of men and women who thinks Ron Paul is slightly below Jesus however I do like what he has to mention. Let's fear approximately our possess backyard earlier than me pass mow a person else's. That works 2 methods..we do not ship our bombs and we do not ship our beans. Let self choice be the rule of thumb for all international locations, except of direction they decline to go away us on my own. Not definite I purchase that Francisco Franco was once a U.S. puppet.

That depends entirely on what direction America chooses to go in. Unfortunately, our officials are becoming our reflection, and we are rapidly losing respect due to our interference and "sense of superiority over all other countries". We need to restore our clean image and form a more "we take all ideas" relationship with the countries we are allied with.
