He is from Michigan and I am from Illinois...and at first he was all about getting married in my hometown, but now he is telling me he wants to get married in Michigan instead, but I told him it was up to him and it was to be in Illinois where I wanted. It caused a big fight and now he is saying I'm being unfair....Am I? Is it wrong for me to NOT want to get married in michigan?

No it's not wrong. However, this might be a good time to figure out if the two of you can compromise on important issues, because there will be many more to come in your marriage. How about this....your wedding in your home town, then a second reception (planned and by formal invitation) in Michigan. You could show the video tape of the ceremony and have a second celebration with anyone from Michigan that could not attend the ceremony. What ever way you decide that a compromise can work, it's important that you both listen to the others side and make a decision based on respect for the other ones feelings.

First of all this is nothing that serious but to you it means a lot and usually a girl will want to get married in her home town because it is the brides family that usually pays for the wedding and i don't think there is anything wrong with the way you feel. See this is what love is all about sacrificing to please one another. So your thinking about marriage there more than just walking down the aisle you are going to spend the rest of your life with this person so don't rush to get
married until you have worked every thing out.

best of luck

Usually it is where the bride wants it, Who has the biggest family to come, who has to make all the plans, who has to go visit all the places in order to have it set up right. You don't say why he wants to go to michigan to have the vows, and you don't say where you are to live after. You don't say why you don't want to get married there either, so need so more info.

How much time do you have to figure this out?

Talk it over rationally; it's not worth fighting about.

Who's family has more money? Make them do the travelling.
