a dragster completes a 1/4 mile drag strip run, going from 0 to 284 mph in 4 seconds. He then covers 3/4 mile while slowing down to a stop in 14 seconds.

i did that already...ya turns out that is the wrong answer..

one 'g'= 32 ft/s^2

the first quarter of a mile is described as
284*1.47=a1*4
a1=284*1.47/4
=104 ft/sec^2 or
3.25 g's

The 3/4 of a mile is
0=284*1.47+a2*14
a2=-284*1.47/14
a2=-29.8 ft/s^2
or

The average is
.25*3.25-.75*0.932
