I plan on going and getting the IUD birth control. I was wondering if anyone has had this done and if it hurts? Also I was wanting to know if they experienced any side effects from it?

I didnt have any pain when it was inserted. I didnt feel it at all as a matter of fact.

I have the mirena. Spotting can last for up to 6 months (it only lasted about a month for me). And i've seen a lot of girls complaining about mood swings, acne, and headaches. I'm having the mood swings and acne problems, but no headaches. I've also read some girls saying they were having weight gain. So it seems like the side effects effects are the same as with birth control pills.

The copper IUD's are different then the mirena, so they have different side effects. They have no hormones in them. I'm thinking i should have went with one of those and not the mirena. But with those your period doesnt go away, which i love about the mirena.

I had an IUD for 7 years. It didn't cause any pain at all and I never felt a thing. It worked totally fine and to my knowledge never had any side effects.

Have had an IUD and there is a little pain when it first goes in but it doesnt last. The best one out there now is Mirena and in most cases you will not have a period. YEAH dont be afraid to try it. google it and check it out. good luck

take 2 tylenol or advil about 1 hr b4 your scheduled time and yes you will have cramps while it is being inserted and you will continue to cramp for about 2-3 days.
i have not had side effects (ive had it since jan) but some women experience cramps, and irregular bleeding... i havent even had a period since feb.....
i love it and would recommend it to anyone who wants an easy birth control

I have the Mirena IUD......I had no pain having it inserted. I love it, I wish I would have gotten it sooner.

The insertion was painless. However, it did not work out for my. I am petite and was always aware of it being there as did my husband. But this is rare....
