Try to find an image consultant in your area - they specialize in helping with such things, and will be able to work with you in person which is always best!

Another option is to check out the Cents of Style site - Andi always has some good ideas (www.centsofstyle.org).

I believe that Beauticontrol consultants also offer a style consulting service - go to www.beauticontrol.com to find a rep in your area.

For starters, use neutral colors with neutral colors. Brights with brights. Black and whites can be used with any color scheme. Don't wear nice, dressy pieces with casual, athletic pieces. Keep your outfits simple but let your accessories enhance your outfit. Wear clothing that flatters your body. Try different cuts of clothing. Your hair and makeup play a big part! Don't ever leave the house looking scrappy.

Try matching colors. If the colors don't match, don't use them. For example, if you have on light brown shorts, don't wear a dark brown jacket. My usually fashionable friend made that mistake today, and I am like... wow....

Anyway, try matching your shirt with your shoes or headband. If you wear layers, try a low-cut black shirt with a white cami, blue jeans (go with ANYTHING!) and a white headband to bring out the small bit of white.

Do same shades of colors, not different shades!

Model your look after something in your room. That pretty green and pink pillow, your orange and white cat, the colors of your room... If you match colors with an object, usually the colors match!

1] Figure out what body type [ pear, plus, boyish, petite, or busty ] you are, and wear clothes that flatter your shape.
2] Decide if you are a COOL: look best in
white, pinks, cherry reds, coral, lemon, mint, jade, forest green, sky, royal, navy, lavender, plum, gray, black, and silver jewelry, OR
WARM: look best in
ivory, tomato red, peach, orange, rust, golden yellow, lime, kelly, olive, aqua, turquoise, teal, purple, caramel, coffee brown, and gold jewelry.
3] buy tops [ fitted Ts, blouses, button shirts, tanks, camis, halters, etc. ] in 'your' brights and pastels - these colors will flatter your face
4] buy pants, jackets, sweaters in some of 'your' neutrals -
navy, gray, black; or caramel, olive, brown
5] get some shoes and belts that match
6] add your metal - gold or silver
7] finish with eye, cheek, and lip colors in your shade. [ Never try to 'match' face colors with outfit colors - try a subtle contrast - much more effective
8] for formal or work wear - match bottoms, shoes, and belts, with a colorful top, and a jacket/sweater that coordinates with bottom or top. Add jewelry [ your metal or gemstones ] and subtle makeup.
9] for school or casual wear - wear bright tops with jeans, pants, skirts - can match shoes to shirt, or jacket , or pants.
Match jewelry to an outfit color that hasn't matched anything yet.
10] collect some interesting belts in your colors - crochet, embroidered, concha, braided, croc, velvet, an old necktie

Well, jeans go with basically everything. You can tuck them into Uggs in the winter, wear a cute shirt and throw on a brown hoodie.
