You are in the far left lane driving the speed limit. A car (not poice or amubualance, or flashing red light) comes up behind you doing 80mph, should you move over?? My thinking is that this idiot is disobeying the speed limit and I have right to stay in that lane. What are your thoughts?

So you think you can be a speed cop and force people to slow down? Bad move, Roscoe! I presume you are in the US, since you say interstate. That means, the far left lane is the fast lane, the passing lane, and you are not supposed to use it as a driving lane. Unless you are passing somebody, you have no business travelling in the far left lane no matter what speed you are doing. Now if you are passing, you are under no obligation to speed up to get out of the speeder's way, but if the right lane is clear, you are required to move over, or you can be ticketed for impeding traffic, or various other offences depending on the state.

No offense but your the idiot in the left lane. On a two lane or more road the left lane is the passing lane. quite a few states even have signs stating that fact but people like you still stay in the left lane driving the speed limit even though it may clearly state you should be in another lane if not passing and if your passing someone and your only going 1 or 2 miles an hour faster than the guy your passing and there are people that want to get by dont be an *** get in the right lane if you can let them by then pass the guy. In a three of four lane road usually the far left is the slower truck lane the middle is regular and the far left is passing. I drive across the country all the time and wether I'm passing people or driving my rig I always see people that drive the speed limit or slower in the left lane and they not only cause traffic for every one else but that person trying to pass you at 80 may still have an emergency thus why he's speeding and for the record 80 in a 65 or 70 depending on states is not that fast. You should have moved over.

I know the feeling but consider this I live in a rural area and the problem is getting bad here too in the last 3 years I know of 4 road rage incident that have caused 2 deaths one by shooting one because the guy was mad and let the other guy get out of his car then ran him over, remember I live in a rural area where the largest city is only about 85,000, you can drive in any lane you choose but why make someone mad just to prove a point,it is safer just to move over and let them pass and say a little prayer that a state trooper is waiting up ahead for them also remember if you do it to someone when they are in a hurry you have no right to expect anyone to move for you if in the future you need to exceed 65 mph, just a thought

OH no, what if the guy is drunk or pi**ed off? Or just raged about something? Or sick and losing control? Heart or stroke problem. Get out of the way and you won't have any trouble--The law does say that the LEFT lane is a passing lane--not a cruising lane--you are wrong to ride it and hold up people regardless of how THEY are driving. Failure to keep to the right is an invite to the cops--you don't need that hassle.

Get the hell over in the right lane at your earliest convenience. If you don't like the way people drive find another form of transportation or a different route. There is nothing new about people driving fast you know so deal with it, it,s always going to be that way and your not going to change it by being a lane blocker, you'll only get flipped off and tailgated by people if you decide to be the safety police on the highway,

Check you local traffic laws; but I am certain that you should be riding in the far right hand lane unless your either passing or using that lane to turn left. Most states can ticket you for staying in the far left hand lane.

You also are promoting road rage by atempting to slow faster drivers down.

I would move over when I had the opportunity. I would not go out of my way to do so though. I it were to mean that I would have to slow down or run the risk of being tied up in traffic, the idiot behind me would just have to wait. Courtesy would suggest that you yeild the fast lane to faster moving traffic but I am not on the road to please others.

Atleast 70. Most state's will let you drive 5 mph over on the interstate.

Yeah just stay in that lane cause you're keeping the speed limit. Let the jerk switch lanes if he really is so eager to pass you.
