Truth is something that we can never be definite about. There are simple as well as complicated truths. And you must have heard that truth is sometimes stranger than fiction. What is considered truth to one person of one race, religion, nationality, level of education, age etc may be a complete untruth, trash or lie to another. I,for one, will not impose certain truths on another person whom i know isn't likely to accept them, and he may even resort to insult, abuse or violence against me. However as far as possible it is a wise policy to speak the truth and to encourage others, especially youngsters, to do likewise, because truths often carry more advantages than lies. One who always deals in untruths tend to carry a lot of guilty conscience and regrets, due to making a lot of gossip and enemies. The best policy is therefore to pursue Truth.

"All truth is simple...is that not doubly a lie?" Explanation? ~~~ 'Simplicity' is (like all adjectives/adverbs, etc...) a matter of Perspective, context, eye of the beholder... "For every Perspective, there is an equal and opposite Perspective!" - The First Law of Soul Dynamics 'Truth/Reality/the complete Universe' is, on the other hand, ALL INCLUSIVE! Whether or not you see that as 'simple', is up to youPerspective. "All statements are true in some sense, false in some sense, meaningless in some sense, true and false in some sense, true and meaningless in some sense, false and meaningless in some sense, and true and false and meaningless in some sense." -Robert Anton Wilson I halfly understand this...but how does the second part relate to the first? ~~~ It is a poorly formulated and thought out statement. "Lies' are in the eyes (thoughts) of the beholder! Everything is true (in context)! Everything exists! Everything is Real! All inclusive!

I guess that depends the nature of what is to be judged as true or false.
Asking whether the earth rotates could be answered in the affirmative, relative to the sun, though it could be answered in the negative relative to itself or those on it.
It gets even more complicated when trying to find the truth of things more personal, such as happiness. Can it be said we are happy when the balance of things contributing to feelings or our understanding of happiness outweigh those contrary to it? At what moment do you measure this fact, since emotionally we and our circumstances fluctuate continuously?
Interpreting and establishing the truth objectively is where it becomes muddled and confusing, even contradictory, as each subject has their point of view. Do we look towards a perceived authority, or do we take polls? Do we follow reason, or blindly those facts revealed or put forward? Should we be sceptical, or trusting?
Truth might be simple objectively, yet such a truth is merely an idea. The reality is that truth has no home except as found in a subject.

Here are ways it could be considered a lie; 1. Stalin is a mass murderer and Communism is totalitarian to say that things are so simple is a lie as the two statements contradict one another and people malign Stalin as a mass murderer but there is one who none have been able to surpass yet God 2. God is imaginary but God gave orders to kill people but cannot be tried for crimes. 3. God is mercifull also not true and true at same time 4. What people do in God's name is not the fault of God. 5. God was said in The Old Testement to desire the death of those who did not beleive in God and so is vain andso has committed all the sins of man and so can fall to the status of man and so is no more powerfull than man and so could have fallen to Earth and have been stuck with Adam and Eve. 5.Many contradictory passages later God is still going strong.

Let me tell you some thing, when there is a guy telling the truth most of the time. People do trust him. Sometimes he hide something- maybe a lie. But still people believe him. On the other hand, when there is another guy who always lie, for once he is telling the truth people don't believe. Got it now?

In other words, anything that is truth is not simple and anything that is simple is not the truth -- that makes it a double lie.
Is the statement true? I say no. The truths I appreciate the most are the simple ones. When someone is trying to give me a complicated explanation for something, that is when the "BS" alarm goes off.

I don't think that it's doubly a lie.At first glance I was like truth and simple in the same sentence. It then took me a while to realize the truth.Truth itself is simple but consequences and actions of being truthful aren't.

As usual, Nietzsche misses the point, which is that simplicity is one of the hallmark features of truth, as demonstrated by Occam's Razor.

Depends on who you ask. Truth is viewed different from different branches of philosophy. I think perhaps nobody knows or discovers Truth with a capitol "T," but rather a truth or a set of truths.
