I hear that the 8600GT is DX10, does that mean I need Vista? Please explain thanks.

I think that first answer might mislead you a bit. Yes you need Vista to run DX10, but you CAN still use that card with XP, but you will only be able to run DX9. The card will still work though, and most games out now are still DX9.

XP doesn't and never will support DX10. You need Vista and a DX10 card to run DX10. You can use it with XP but you'll only run DX9.

yes dx10 is only supported in Vista

well, you can put it on xp system, but you wont be able to use directX 10 features, because directx 10 only available for vista
