"Reaping" means to harvest a crop, so gathering in food that has been planted (preferably by you or your friends or relations.)
Saturn was the god of reaping; therefore, god of the harvest, and as he was a god, not an evil spirit, he was the god of GOOD harvests. In Roman mythology, he was both a tyrannical overlord who ate all of his offspring except Jupiter (Zeus), because he, being observant as he was, was tricked into swallowing a rock instead, and the ruler of all Italy in the Golden Age, when no one ever fought or went hungry. Now his wife, Ops (Rhea in Greek) got mad when he ate all their children, so she hid Jupiter. When he grew up he killed Saturn, and the ages that followed were less good.

In olden farmers used to cut with the wheat when it was ripe with large hand-held scythes. That is what "reaping" means -- swinging the scythe to cut the corn.
The time of reaping is in late summer in Europe, end of July or early August. This when the grain was ripe enough to cut and send off to the mills to be ground into flour for bread.
On the mythology side of things, yes Saturn was a Roman farming god, and he carried a scythe for cutting wheat. The Roman goddess Ceres (our word cereal comes from her name) also had a scythe.

There is a time for everything.
There is a time of sowing, there is a time of growing, and there is a time of reaping. It is an allegory that can fit many things in the life of humankind.
Example: An idea can be sowed, as in planted in a mind. An Idea can come to fruition and plans made for turning it into reality. An idea is matured and reaped along with what it can accomplish.

One would not attain what one sows except one looks after what one reaps. One has to maintain offering fertilizers, pesticises, and additionally water the plant life. If one forgets to try this one loses what he sows. possibly, the believers of God experience that God needs them to remind Him to water what he has sown, furnish the fertilizer and insecticides to maintain them from undesirable pests. to that end, they pray God so as that God looks after them as mandatory. Edit: to respond to your querry in extra information. the version between vegetation and guy is that vegetation are non-living and guy is living. If I have been to you would be wanting to paint my homestead next day, i do no longer anticipate homestead to take me back to the reality, yet can easily anticipate my spouse to realize this. that's not actual that the grasp will kill the dumb animals while they cry. If the grasp is non-veg, he could gain this finally, yet in the previous that he keeps looking after them and while they cry grants them the nutrients they eat. i do no longer understand approximately God, yet could be God has His procedures no longer understood by ability people. The earth would not have survived for tens of millions of years if the living beings have been to no longer die on the will of God. If all the creatures who have been born on earth did no longer die, think of what could have been the way forward for the Earth! Did you ever observe that people who prayed have been killed by ability of God while they prayed!!
