David Beckham. Football (or soccer) is pretty much a national sport in the whole world. Michael Jordan is a fantastic athlete, too, but not many countries focus on that sport that much. Roger Federrer is pretty famous, too, but David Beckham is probably more known in the world.

Because footie is a world-wide sport. MJ is well-known in the west but in a lot of countries, he's not well-known. Beckham is part of the world-wide sport. Federer is famous but he's not at that point yet, though he may reach it.
