Ok, I need to make my computer faster, and here are the current specs:
processor: Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4ghz
video card: Geforce 7600GS
ram: 1gb

I am contemplating whether or not to purchase a Geforce 8600GTS and 2gb of ram, or just one of the two.
If I were to choose one of em, which one should I buy?

Thanks

If you are looking to imporve gaming performance, the video card absolutely makes a difference. I would upgrade both if you are looking for better gaming performance, just the RAM if you want overall system performance.

In a laptop, you can always upgrade the RAM but upgrading the graphics card is much more difficult. Go for the one with better graphics. On the other hand, I personally don't know anyone who has had an HP and wanted to buy another one afterwards.

well it depends if you are using you computreer for gaming internet useage such as networking and heavy file transfers and multy tasking if you are using you computer for multiple funtions yes indeed getthe ram for ram stands for random acsess memory which in tern allows you tor run many multiple programs or one large program such as a game with a grater ease on your system i had the same problem see my pc has the same specs and what i did was i bought the ram and then i check my pcs preformence afterwards then decided whether i needed the vidieo card so buy the ram first and see if it does the job if not well snag the vidieo card but beshure to get the ram first for some g foprce vidieo cards use your ram to speed up their preformence so if you do need to buy a vidieo card it will work at a greater preformence level with the added ram i hope this helps

Video game performance depends on 1--video card 2--ram 3--cpu, in that order. Get the video card first then the ram.

well, i suggest both, 2 gb ram should be plenty...

if you are not in hurry, i suggest you wait until geforce 8700 is released in a few month, because it have 256bit memory interface compare to 128bit in 86gts.

your current is good already, but i recommend 2gb ram
video card doesn't make your pc faster
processor, hdd & memory do
