Wil Wheaton didn't play D.A.R.Y.L. Barret Oliver did; he also was in NeverEnding Story and the Cocoon movies. Also, isn't he actually an android? The Terminator is a cyborg though T2 might qualify as a robot~an excellent one!

My favorite robots include:
Robbie in Forbidden Planet
This robot also was used in The Invisible Boy, as well as making appearances in TV episodes.

Tobor in the film Tobor the Great
I saw it when I was 4 years old and always wanted to see it again. Maybe I'll try to find a copy, only I might be disappointed in it since memory isn't always true.

Maria/Futura in Metropolis
Early drawings of C3PO look a lot like her.

the robot in Colossus of New York
I really like this film in which an inventor's brain is encased in a rather monstrous robot body, eventually driving him insane. It's a reworking of the Golem legend. Ross Martin (Artemus Gordon of Wild Wild West plays the scientist.)
Charles Herbert should get a mention here. The boy appears in three classic films: 13 Ghosts, The Fly, and Houseboat (with Cary Grant and Sophia Loren). Naturally, those are the original versions of the SF/horror films.

Gort in The Day the Earth Stood Still
He's powerful enough to destroy the Earth~if necessary.
"Gort~Klaatu Nikto Barada."
I bought a badge/pin at a sci fi convention that translates this as: "Gort~I've fallen, and I can't get up." *giggle*

Huey, Dewey (sometimes spelled Duey) and Louie in Silent Running

The Gunfighter (Yul Brynner) in Westworld

Box (Roscoe Lee Browne) in Logan's Run
He's my favorite part of a film that I found rather disappointing. My other bright spot is Peter Ustinov's cat-loving old man.

Gog and Magog in Gog
Does anyone else remember this film? I haven't seen it for a very long time, and I'd really like to watch it again someday to see if I change my mind about it.

Hector in Saturn 3
This is a much-defamed film that is one of my favorites although I sometimes forget to mention it on lists. Kirk Douglas, Farrah Fawcett (yes!), and Harvey Keitel do a wonderful job in this Stanley Donen-directed film that has some remarkably striking images in it and an evocative soundtrack.

Johnny 5 in two Short Circuit films (The first is best.)
He's very cute!

Sonny in I, Robot
He's the only thing I like about this film, which is a travesty otherwise. I can't believe they could do that to Isaac Asimov's works.

R2D2 and C3PO in the Star Wars saga

Phil, the baby robot in Heartbeeps

I didn't list cyborgs or androids. That would be a much longer list, including Blade Runner.

D.A.R.Y.L (data automated robot youth lifeform) starring Wil Wheaton as a boy robot . . . the robot was good enough to make you believe he was actually a real boy and not just a robot. The ones in A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) were also pretty good, Haley Joel Osment and Jude Law.

i admire cheesy disaster video clips! you already understand those: Armageddon Day After day after today Dante's good Cloverfield daytime Volcano Independence Day all of them have the comparable ridiculous characters and varieties. The scientist who's standard with of the worldwide is ending, the newborn-kisser who won't pay interest, the confirm/new baby turning out to be nearer, the undesirable oppressed hobo, the affection interest, the guy loss of life of optimum cancers, etc.. If i might choose to place in writing a screenplay, i might write up a perfect "airplane" type spoof of those video clips!

Gort from The Day The Earth Stood Still. Impassive and threatening, and it was actually an interplanetary policeman.

Geddin the Gort
