Edition can only support 1 microprocessor http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_home_pro.asp. Does this mean i have to upgrade to Windows XP Professional to get my Duo CPU to run at full capacity? I'm not the most computer savvy so bear with me. Thanks for your time

Well... it really depends. If it is a brand new computer from a known PC manufacturer (HP, Compaq, Dell, etc) it will have have been updated to support the dual core processor for you.

Do this, hit Ctrl + Alt + Del on your keyboard.

This will pull up your task manager, from there click on the "performance" tab. On that screen, you should see a little graph that says "CPU Usage History".

If that Graph is split in two, then the computer recognizes both cores.

If not, there are two options for solving your problem, neither of which I will go into until we are sure your computer is not recognizing both cores.

If it is not, send me a follow up message and I will walk you through your options.

YES, only one processor BUT dual core is supported. Check out BrianG's post and screenshots here:

I suspect the motherboard's BIOS may not be up to date in its support for the E4300 allendale.

I've seen a similar problem happening on an E2140 on an unknown brand of 945GZ mobo even if OS is XP Pro SP2. BIOS could not be updated because board maker has no website YET.

That's Weird. Probably Would Have To Get Pro For In To Run Full Cap.
