It can't be done! Even if a new President wishes to stop the war & bring the troops all home, is this really the right thing to do? We went into Iraq based on a lie, both houses should have questions the actions of this President before allowing him to send in troops. It was proved to be incorrect information, Iraq did not have WMDs, before troops or funding was ever allowed, by both Republican majority run houses. Before we can bring home our troops, we must provide some measure of security for a country that we have almost destroyed. Our standing in the world is at a low point, other nations no longer respect us, they consider us to be too weak to win a war that we started against a country that had done nothing to us. If we repeat Viet Nam & leave these people at the mercy of insurgents & a destroyed country, then we do not deserve the respect of other nations. I do not wish to see one more of our youth killed or maimed in this war, but it seems that this is a price we are going to have to pay to help those we have almost destroyed. God help us all.

It is a bit too late for Bush and his successor, but perhaps some future president will be able to order our military to use nonlethal weapons to enforce a treaty, defend the country, or take some other military action in "the national interest."
First, there has to be a concerted effort to develop effective nonlethal weapons. Perhaps the switch of some Sunnis from al queda's side to ours demonstrates the value of tactics designed to kill fewer people while al queda tries to maximize deaths from their operations. If we had effective nonlethal weapons, al queda might have had a hard time recruiting fighters in the beginning.
I think it is time for pacifists to realize that we can't stop conflicts, but technology might be developed that will allow us to stop the killing, or dramatically reduce it.

Ask him nicely to stop. Or vote for Hillary or Obama. Then we can stop the war, and roll over for the enemy. Al Qaeda would love for Bush to stop killing people.
FYI: Pieces of crap that blow themselves up killing innocent women and children are not "people"

Who has he killed? Oh, nobody. Right.
This amazes me. The double speak. Incredible. Gotta love this supposed liberal intelligence. "Bush is a murderer." "We support the troops."
Yet people like you call Bush a murderer because people are dying in Iraq. The only Americans killing anyone in Iraq are American soldiers. Bush hasn't directly killed anyone. Yet Bush is a murderer. That means one of two things: A) You, and the rest of the left, are calling American troops murderers. B) You, and the rest of the left, think American troops are murderers but you're too much of a coward to come out and say it. Either way, you disgust me.

Edt: BTW, I hope "he" kills many, many more...enemy, that is. It's the job we elected him to do...protect the US, which means protect the US peoples' lives and property from enemy combatants, wherever found, here or abroad.

How can Americans stop the campaign from the Commonwealths encouraging hatred against Americans? We can't, anymore than you can vote in our country.

"It appears we have appointed our worst generals to command forces, and our most gifted and brilliant to edit newspapers! In fact, I discovered by reading newspapers that these journalists/geniuses plainly saw all my strategic defects from the start, yet failed to inform me until it was too
late. Accordingly , I'm readily willing to yield my command to these obviously superior intellects, and I'll, in turn, do my best for the cause by writing editorials - after the fact."
- Robert E. Lee in 1863.
