On September 9, 2007, in the opening game for the 2007 NFL Season, while attempting to tackle Denver Bronco Domenik Hixon, Everett sustained a neck injury that resulted in his transport off the field by ambulance. The way it happened is that when he attempted to takle Domenik Hixon he hit Hixon head first which caused his neck to thrust back to fracture Everett's spine.
