For six months, I have debated about whether or not to put my real picture on Y/A. I don't have many photos of myself, I have millions of others, and this pic was the only one I could find. Should I go back to my Robert Smith avatar?

I've been thinking the same thing. When people look at my avatar, they think Cheney. Ugh!
But I do have this irrational fear of posting my picture on the web.
I think people are used to seeing you as Robert Smith. Why not set up a 360, where your friends can see the real you?
Whatever you choose, your questions and answers are cool.

It's not that bad. If I were you, I'd find some cool graphic that doesn't look like you or someone else, and use it for your avatar. Keep it the same all the time, and people will come to recognize you by your avatar. Everyone knows I'm the Goddess of Liberty! LOL

I think you should go with what feels right to you. There is some validity to keeping a theme to your avatar, if you want to be recognized. You have a different outlook on life, and may be misunderstood by someone who is reading your question or answer for the first time. Oh, Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood!
