Keep in mind that some women get headaches, some don't. What might not give me a headache taking a certain pill might give someone else a headache.
The only way to know is to actually try out a pill. I have been on Yaz since October of last year. The two side effects I had when first starting it were headaches and nausea, both of which went away in a couple of months. I take it strictly for PMDD.

Definitely go for the pills. I don't know why your doctor would tell you that the pill does not work as good because all forms of birth control work just as well, it all depends on your personal preference. Of course, shots cost way more expensive than birth control pills, when from the way it looks, it seems that your doctor is trying to get more money than what he/she deserves. If you feel that the shots are not comfortable and not exactly what you want, then you have the 100% ability to choose to stop taking it and switch to pills, especially if you strongly feel that it could be better for you.
