Having encouraged monopoly and price fixing in the medical industry, the government took on the responsibility for the people who can no longer afford health care.

The politicians have it for free, so why should they care? Five generations of the Bush family now have had the worlds best health care at our cost, and I certainly don't feel that they should be my responsibility.

Health care isn't the constitutional responsibility of either the state or federal government. However, both of them have established health care programs. Medicare is a federal responsibility, whereas Medicaid and treatment of the indigent is usually a state responsibility (with some federal funding). Regulating the health care industry is primarily done by the states, although the federal government has been passing some laws in the area recently (HIPAA for example).

well... there's a lot the government does that's not in the Constitution...

like it gives tax breaks and grants to companies to fund research... is that the government's responsibility? no...

does it make America stronger... probably...

that's how many feel about health care... probably not the governments "responsibility"... but many think America would be better off with it...

it's hard to put a price on a healthy populous...

Indigent health care is left to the county, which probably gets state funding for a lot of it. The federal government doesn't control any healthcare except that for veterans.

You will find it in none of those places. It is the responsibility of the people, not the government.

It is the responsibility of the people, not the government. That is why Universal Healthcare is not required or needed.

health care is your responsibility, and it should be. but with this country's hard left turn toward socialism, it will soon be the responsibility of the federal government, and they will screw it up so badly that it will make you sick.
